A glorified Youtube channel - but fair enough. It's content which is being filmed which wouldn't work as a show in it's own right, but is fine as part of a radio show and extra video content.
Talking of which notice Adele at the BBC has a red button spin-off with Graham Norton hosting a spoof Adele impersonation show, with Adele herself disguised as one of the contestant.
It's interesting that last week's Jazz pop-up radio station wasn't actually 'sponsored' by any of the network channels but was offered by BBC Music.
I assumed that was because one or two of the shows were done in association with Jazz FM.
Yes, and Jazz FM promoted the station too. It's the first time in almost 20 years the Beeb and another UK broadcaster have engaged in a joint collabortaion I think ? Last time was the Denis Potter dramas first show/repeated and jointly promoted on BBC 1 and C4 in 96 ?

Depends how far you want to take it but there was the first Celebrity Big Brother in 2001, which started on C4 and ended on BBC1, and (slightly tenuously) there was a joint 5 Live/C4 promo for the Paralympics shown towards the end of the Olympics coverage.
Radio 1 already have a "channel" on the iPlayer and I suspect Radio 2 and 6Music will follow.
I suspect that Radio 1's iPlayer outlet will morph into a BBC Music iPlayer channel. It's interesting that last week's Jazz pop-up radio station wasn't actually 'sponsored' by any of the network channels but was offered by BBC Music. The two previous pop-up incarnations, Eurovision and Country both being Radio 2 offshoots. Doing so would enable Glastonbury, Leeds/Reading etc. coverage to be hosted across channels with an iPlayer base post BBC Three Closure. The Proms videos often lost on Radio 3's web pages would fit comfortably there too. It'd be quite an eclectic mix and drive people to explore.
One thing I've always thought is, instead of just telling us when sport commentaries are on BBC radio of which another FTA broadcaster has the rights to, the BBC would be best serving the licence payer by also telling us when we could find these events in FTA TV.
BBC Wales does that though, as it is legally required to produce a minimum of 10 hours of programming a week for S4C. So, shows like Y Clwb Rygbi or Pobol Y Cwm are BBC Wales/Cymru shows, and it's simply that the BBC is promoting its own shows on another channel.
Also worth mentioning regards the S4C situation, that in some cases there is a simulcast on BBCtv, such as certain 6 nations games, although, for the benefit of welsh speaking viewers outside Wales, they used to put the welsh language commentary from Radio Cymru on the red button.
Given that the BBC will soon be funding S4C, alongside advertising, instead of the government - it seems likely that cross promotion may increase. Now S4C is on BBC iPlayer, it almost feels like it is moving to being a BBC service (albeit with adverts)
The BBC also briefly promoted C4's coverage of the Paralympics at the end of the Olympics in 2012. Obviously a couple of events next year where they share rights with ITV, but I suspect all ITV broadcasts will see them promote the radio commentary, although it is kind of something that goes without saying. I wouldn't expect them to promote the ITV coverage on a match by match basis anyway, though it wouldn't harm if both sides referenced the other with just a logo on the endcap when promoting the tournament as a whole.
Anyway, getting back to where this all started and the Jazz FM tie up did seem a bit strange, although it is good to put the commercial v BBC arguments to one side and see them work together for the benefit of the listener and viewer.
