Weird seeing that one as it's not of the general "christmas" style - the O looks more like a ferris wheel!.

I agree. It seems more like an ident for children's programming. Still nice to see it again after all these years. In light of the return of the 90s idents this last six months, I was kind of hoping to see some from that era again, particularly the 1991 ident. I thought it was unlikely but perhaps not that far-fetched after all.

BBC TWO Northern Ireland are reshowing the retro Christmas idents that were used last year (the 1979 and 1984 idents). The former was shown at 16.40 before Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em.

The latter was shown before The Rockford Files (Sat 13th Dec, at 1:20pm).

It's worth keeping a look out on NI for the 1985 Christmas ident (the one shown below). It was shown on NI last year - but once only.

Anyone know if Red Bee has supplied designs for static slides, like this from 1999...? I guess not as they're so rarely shown.

Talking of rare, I've only seen a sting play out once this year. I'll ask again - Is there any pattern to their use and have I been missing them?

Are you sure they are rare? I have seen them multiple times on both channels.

I have seen them a couple of times, even at all manner of the days. Best bet would be around long jcts

I have set recordings for large chunks of days to try and catch the stings, but nothing has come of it. In my book, that's rare.

BBC One NI are running "Santa Watch" during junctions this evening - a bit like what UTV have been doing for the past decade, although I doubt Julian would refer to the International Space Station as they have at Broadcasting House.
