I'm getting tired of their identification package. Will we see a change in January?

Fingers crossed that that doesn't happen. They didn't have a love autumn, so hopefully that's faded away.

They didn't have a Love Summer, either, so, hopefully, this prospect is extremely unlikely (thankfully).

Can't speak for everyone but I always want the BBC Christmas idents to be a surprise, I want to see them for the first time on the actual telly and not via Youtube. I can tell you that there WILL be a selection of new festive idents on BBC1 and I think they're wonderful. I'm not allowed to say much more other than (1) you don't have long to wait (2) they're not "love christmas" and don't feature red curtains!

I agree Duncan!

I like seeing them on TV first but the BBC do like putting them up on You Tube first now. Are you on duty over Christmas and will BBC2 get new ones too?

Completely agree Duncan - and would like them held back until a reasonable date too - with Christmas on the Wednesday this year the Friday or Saturday before would be fine, but I suspect they'll air at least a week before that, if not two.

Don't they usually start in early December these days? Anyway, they might as well put their decorations up when most the country do which is in early December.

Christmas does seem to start earlier and earlier every year. Our village light switch-on is taking place on the 28th of November this year. Last year didn't a few networks put out their decs on the first Saturday of December (which was the 1st)? But this year that's the seventh. Perhaps Sunday 1st?

I'm not on duty this Christmas (doing New Years Eve night/Day). Don't think I'll get in trouble to say that BBC2 are using the same ones as last year (which I love) and although I don't think I can reveal the date, it will be sooner rather than later. As Jon says, as you put the decorations up. I'll ask my colleague if I'm able to share the actual date and get back to you

Typical... But thanks for the information anyway Duncan! Smile

A shame BBC2 are a poor relation now and don't get new idents every year but the Christmas ident is great and is also an award winner I think. I wish they'd ditch the current regular ones though!

The current BBC2 Christmas set is good, but gets less good every year they use it. I think three years is about the most they should use it for - would be nice for something new next year - and as cylon6 says, a complete refresh too. It desperately needs it.

If they do do a rebrand, they should release it near April, to coincide with BBC2's 50th anniversary. It would be logical but as it is BBC2, it would probably be too much to ask for.
