I liked the way the announcer commented on the ident.

Well it is Duncan Wink Very Happy

And eerily similar to the announcement made by the similarly faux-chummy worthless arsehole on BBC One Scotland too. ****.

I'm guessing the stings could be a good indicator of which ident is about to follow, then?

Seriously, I know this is a TV Forum, but the banality of having this same discussion [ about how early the ident is ] on the same weekend every year... YAWN

Perhaps then, you yourself might try and either refrain or tone down from the booing, hissing and ranting about the "marketing conspiracy" and other such paraphernalia .

No, I agree, it's not worth paying people that sort of money. But that they're doing it at all is good.

Just to clarify, I suggested the BBC didn't seem so concerned about "value for money" when determining the salaries of people like Jonathan Ross before I decided to cancel the post, which obviously clashed with the appearance of the above response.

At BBC Scotland the announcer or (Network Director)uses the London announcers script as they are vison mixing and playing out the channels output unlike the London announcer.

It's not that bad really. Snowball was OK, and with another (quite stunning) ident to complement it, it should work perfectly over the next week or two.

It doesn't matter whether 'Snowball' was okay, but rather that its just un-imaginative and after 2 weeks last year of snowball i'd rather get bored of a whole new set of idents then be reminded yet again of more boredom. Whilst it is value for money, I as a licence fee payer don't particularly care as quite frankly I pay the tv licence to be entertained. Also i dont see how recycling an ident when you've already commisioned another which is being aired anyway saves money, wastes it if anything.

Now that's an interesting discussion point in itself. The way I see it each department has it's budget and the budget for salaries is separate to that of marketing, catering, buying films/programmes etc. So what happens in one department should be separate to what happens in another department.

I find it odd that good old JR can take home more money for bringing in less viewers compared to the greats like Morecambe & Wise, Mike Yarwood, Bruce Forsyth, The Two Ronnies etc. But that's the salary budget. If the marketing budget means they can pay for an ident at Christmas along with other things is fine by me. Long may it continue.

Now that junction would have been better with Snowball as it had a trailer for quite a serious documentary coming soon on BBC1 and then they have penguins slipping and sliding. They need to think some more about this if you ask me.
