Part of me wouldn't expect it to work, but on thinking they many idents over a normal day and this can be used to break up the endless cycle of repetition.
Plus it gives them a mostly serious ident into the news and where needed.
What will they do about the stings though? Use the appropriate ones inbetween trailers before that ident, as it may look a bit messy having penguins stings into snowball.

It's not that bad really. Snowball was OK, and with another (quite stunning) ident to complement it, it should work perfectly over the next week or two.

Not another version of the ident at all, at least not if you've been following since 6.10pm, because it was the same as that first ident

They may have been given a regional variant if they want to use it.
I'd say it would be ok to use penguins into local news on Christmas Eve for example.

You took the words right out of my mouth having two totally different idents mixes it up a little and will probably stop people getting too bored of them. They should use Snowball for the news and serious dramas or documentaries over Christmas and Penguins for fun stuff.
Can't wait to hear what Phil Vowells does.
