I've set my HDD-DVD recorder to record for an hour 11pm to midnight, and my Pace DTVA to switch between BBC Parliament, BBC Three, BBC Four and BBC Two as each progamme junction arises. Tomorrow I'll watch them all, just for curiosity, and hopefully also have time to see what CBBC and CBeebies are up to with Christmas pres.

I don't give a bucket of jellyfish how you're going to do such a thing, so why go into so much detail?

Well I happened to notice that the four said BBC channels are having programme junctions one after another during the course of the said hour, so the way I've gone about it it's possible to get the junctions from the four said BBC channels through a timed recording. I'll probably be more meticulous over Christmas, e.g. from reading this thread, someone reckons BBC Two has multiple Christmas idents, so I'll want to get them all.

Again, I don't care how you are going to do it.

I think BBC Two's effort is excellent. Very reminiscent of the one from 1993 and good to see a couple of versions.

BBC One's technically looks great, is very upbeat and obviously has had a lot of effort has gone into it but it just doesn't seem festive enough - I want clichés at Christmas!! Father Christmas, starry nights, snowflakes, real Christmas tree etc..!

Still, at least we've had a couple of cracking announcements from Duncan tonight and the nice return of the stings.

Agreed, a real Christmas tree would have improved this loads! And more tinsel and that crap would have been nice.

Perhaps theres something sinister about it and they want to go all PC on us not to offend any minorites out there.

Well, it's always those penguins you see isn't it. Never any polar bears. Coming over here, taking all the jobs!

This year's BBC1 ident is very different I must say.

But I think I like it. Smile

From the BBC site: "This sequence was shot at an ice-rink in Romford, Essex, and all these playful penguins were created in 3D animation."

Romford Ice Rink? Smile

With some idents it's like they want to keep any Christmas references low key. Like when a card says Seasons Greetings instead of Merry Christmas. And I've only just noticed in one of the two idents that the 'Metz' man is cutting the tree to look like himself.

If they are using Snowball too, I'm surprised it's not linked to on the BBC1 website (idents window). It's still there though - albeit hidden from the menus - http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcone/idents/bb_rm_ident.shtml?redirect=ident.shtml&lang=en&nbram=1&bbram=1&bbcws=1&clip=snowball

I think Snowball's under-rated - maybe it gets old too quickly, but it's not too bad, quite a nice bit of film in all.

True, but it works both ways doesn't it - they'd probably get a flood of complaints if they included all Polar Bears for discrimination in favour of whites - you just can't win these days.

Anyway, re: Snowball; it's good to have just for variety - if it had been re-introduced in place of the new ident I would have felt more than a little disappointed.
