Withdrawn then, certainly, But it was actually part of the original 1991 set.

What they replaced it with, Crystal Ball, was gone in a flash because the 2 was so indistinct.
Yes paper cutout and glass were part of the original 9 and amongst the first to be withdrawn. But not as quickly as Crystal ball. I remember only peeing that about 3 times if that!

But I'll never forgive them for withdrawing Silk.

Original 11, surely? Although I do understand why you've said it was 9.

On the very first day I'm sure there were 9 of them. Then two more were introduced a month or two later. A fibre optic one and one where the 2 is dropped into powder.

Maybe he's thinking of Copper Cutout/BW Copper Cutout as twin variants, likewise Water/Water Reflection.

The first additions to the regular sequence were indeed Powder and Optics, first seen on the final Monday in October 1992.

The eleven included two "variations" have the basic nine - a much improved version of "Water" known as "Water Reflection" (which, bafflingly, was withdrawn while the inferior basic version survived until 2001), and a black and white version have "Copper Cut Out".

BOO! HISS!

I don't see a problem using a previous ident to add to the collection rather than the alternative of not using a new one at all. Besides we would be going boo hiss before Christmas Day if the Penguins were being used ad finium before then anyway.

Nothing new to report but at least they're doing something.

No-one's actually seen BBC4 though, it would seem.

Correct although I'll take a stab in the dark that as BBC1-3 have brought out their festive pres, BBC4 will have done so too with their trusty Frost ident.

BBC4 are, disappointingly, still in regular non-christmas mode. Which is slightly worrying, because the other three Beeb channels are all being festive.
