Is it just me or does the high quality version of Penguins doesn't play right, but the low version of Penguins and the high versions of the others work ?

Wow, that's pretty good. Very quirky and different.

What will they show for serious programmes though? Last year's ident?

FGS, I wish the BBC would ditch RealPlayer. It's always been sh*t. Bloody thing keeps buffering.

Snowball Short?

If it was fit for purpose last year, I could see it being used again. The exception would be if there is a slow 'news' variant of the Penguins, but I'd consider that less likely.

Or there might be a slowed-down version of Penguins for the news?

Having re-watched last year's BBC1 junctions earlier this week, I noticed that, in common with the regular idents, Snowball had 12" and 6" versions, but not specifically a news variant.

Technically, for a BBC ident, it's very good. However, there is hardly anything Christmassy about it. They could have had fake snow fluttering down from the ceiling.

I agree they could have more, but I think it's the element of penguins, and the fun music.
Could they maybe have a non penguin slowed down skaters for the serious? But surely that takes away from the theme of it.

I do think that technically, it is very well produced. I presume that the idea has come from the fact that people love the hippos ident, so have gone with CGI animals for winter.
Why have they added people? Why not have other wintery animals like polar bears on ice? And wouldn't it have been better using an outdoor ice rink?

Does anyone know if the music is by Imran Hanif again?
