There's other ideas that BBC Two could for "Window on the World" themed Christmas idents, including a good one I have on my mind, but I'd rather tell it to the BBC pres dept. than on here.

Oh dear...

You know what, that is EXACTLY what I thought of in my head! But there's too many colours for Mr Wumble, so maybe make the background grey, logo black and white and the image in the 2 greyscale. Ah, and that Two needs straightening, it's not uniform with other on screen devices then, weakening the power of his codes!

AFAIK, the BBC Two ident has been well received in that quirky way it's done things in the past, so they're probably seeing no reason to change it.

I've never been a fan of the current BBC2 Christmas ident - and four years is pushing it really.

Has any mainstream channel ever featured a Jesus, the donkey or anything like that in their idents?

I would like to see the three kings/wise men following the star which then becomes the BBC One circle. I'm not a religious man, I just think it would make a nice change.

Not sure about idents, but Westward TV had this startup one year (as yet unidentified)

There is no reference in the bible to three kings, only to "gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh" (Matthew 2:11). There's no definition of number, or gender. There was no donkey either.

On the TV Forum Facebook page it was mentioned that a new Christmas ident was being filmed on someone's road admit featured reindeer.

The really odd thing about that clip is that the rotating logo actually looks quite good and would stand up quite well today in one form or another. However the rest of it does look very cheap and of it's day.

I love YouTube for providing oddities like that

Nor was there a reference to the Bible in David's post, making it perfectly valid.

Did you make that mock? Contrary to what you may think, that's NOT what I had in mind for a new BBC2 Xmas ident.

Oh? Well why don't you explain yours then.

We're positively foaming at the mouth to know.

I agree. To tell the truth, the yellow Christmas tree ident was much better. That one ran for four years too (2001 to 2004, although new ones were added in 2002 and 2003 alongside it). The 2005 BBC2 Christmas ident was reused in 2006, so recycling them is nothing new on BBC2.
