The differing policies of presentation during Christmas between BBC & ITV are notable.

BBC1 use Christmas trailer designs for Christmas programmes and normal red endboards for new season programmes.

ITV1 use Christmas endboards for everything, even stuff that is 'coming soon' meaning there will be 2 versions of the trailers made.

Never understood it. They launch the Christmas presentation a week before any festive programmes start then take it off with specials still to air.

Well considering it's been the only ident used since 11 December, I can't say I'm not pleased to see the back of it. Why they couldn't have waited until the 18th is anyone's guess.

They are still very much in use in Scotland today.

BBC One and Two used the Christmas idents up until the 1030pm junction on New Year's night. I'm not sure about BBC One, but BBC Two was using them across the UK, as they were not branded with " Scotland " for the last couple of programmes.

New Year's night? Do you mean the night of New Year's Day or the night of New Year's Eve? BBC Two was definitely using them on network on New Year's Day but BBC One was using the usual idents.

And interestingly, I can't remember for which programme, but the Strictly ident was used.

BBC Two England used the Christmas idents until the Eric and Ernie Junction at 9pm. From 10pm onwards it was back to the normal ones.

Apparently the 2010 Christmas ident has turned up on BBC One HD's preview reel during a local news timeslot.

Considering they've been getting earlier and earlier when I read on the menu this years ident launches Saturday at 6pm I wasn't that surprised.
