At 7.30 that woman who does Choice continuity did an intro into Liquid News with Christopher Price (although she'd just introduced it at 7 and wasn't with Price!) which led me to the thought: are the annoucements recorded and they played the wrong one? An announcer wouldn't make that large a slip surely!
This question has sometimes crossed my mind about the UK Gold announcers. Once, halfway through an episode of Only Fools And Horses you heard the announcer say 'Well next tonight on UK Gold we take another visit to Peckham' - that exact voice was announced before the next OFAH episode that night.
So my guess is the announcers record the next one if they wish and then bugger off until the next programme begins.

I remember once on BBC One when they were about to handover to BBC News 24, obviously a recorded message, the announcer said. 'Good Morning, and welcome to BBC One on this Sunday Morning, Now we have the Teletubbies', and this was at bloddy 2.30 in the morning. Has anyone else had that experience on BBC One, or Two?
All of the UK Gold and Choice continuity is pre-recorded.
So is the late stuff on BBC1.
Saves cash.

Talking of pre recorded continuity. So is the ITV1 nightime at the weekends. Have you heard it ????Happy happy into News headlines Whatever the main news.:
No, I don't think ITV Night-time is - if its the bloke with the rather deep voice, I believe he does it live. He also does Carlton London from time to time.
As for BBC, UKTV, Sky One and the rest, I'd have thought it was blatantly obvious the announcements were recorded!

I think ITV Nightime is done live during the week, by London.
But will there be live continuity when BBC4 and when/if BBC3 launch? And now BBC1 and BBC2 continuity is merged on analogue and digital, where have all the spare announcers gone?
Pre-recorded continuity really falls down when things go wrong - for example when there was a security alert at the BBC, causing Liquid News on BBC Choice to be abandoned, we got the usual lady constantly repeating the same message over the apology caption, then when a replacement programme came on the nice message - 'We're sorry we aren't able to continue with
the programme
- so instead here's
something else
.' Oh thanks!
And time and time again I've heard the wrong announcements played in, particularly on UK Gold - for example once I heard over the end credits of 'Dad's Army': 'And coming up next on UK Gold - Dad's Army...' which was quickly faded out and the correct announcemnt played!
