The elephant, daffodil and trumpet one was very obvious but it represented 'trumpets.'

An elephant trumpets. That part on the daffodil is called a trumpet, I think (you know what I mean anyway! The trumpet, obvious.

Yes, the original 'heart' and 'punch' idents were great, particularly the 'punch' one. I wasn't too keen on the 'mouse' or the one which seemed to have completley unrelated ones on (an elephant, a daffodil and a trumpet anyone?).

Another good one was the CBBC on Choice one, which had a 'boxer' theme, ie. boxing gloves, boxer shorts and a boxer dog or whatever they're called. Unfortunately, it was in dull CBBC yellow and black graphics, but would have been good if real ones were used.

And there was also the 'Fans' one featuring a paper fan, a football fan and the sort of fan needed last week.

And one of the 'CBBC Choice' idents (CBBC Choice was when they had separate idents, now its called 'CBBC' on choice)
featured a jelly, jelly fish and a jelly baby.

As you can see they were well thought out and well made orginally, what went wrong on Choice!

Why am I never in the country when BBC Choice relaunches!? oh well - I have BBC World (finally) in my hotel room!

Those new idents look much better than the previous hearts look - are there three orange squares? might that relate to BBC Three? Has someone already picked up on this (I'm lazy - I can't read the ENTIRE thread!!)

Will BBC One-Two[Three-Four] be in a numeric form? Like BBC 1 'til 1997 and BBC 2 from the beginning to the 1980s and from 1991 to '97?

Confused

I doubt it ... when they re-name them (once the government has given permission) I would imagine they would follow the same naming convention as 1 & 2 ... BBC THREE and BBC FOUR.

BBC1 is definately getting new idents. BBC Choice always had 3 of a symbol (3 mice, 3 hearts, etc)

I think that they will be in numeric form- they've just changed all of the national radio stations to this with big numbers as logos, so maybe this is what is planned for TV as well.

FIVE LIVE isn't numerical!

Well the BBC Radio idents have a kind of 'history' of stylised numbers -- that's not really true on the TV stations. I hope that they won't use the numeric form - i like them better written out. Besides, I think I can trust what Nicky says…
