OMG, they're in 'The Foyer'! - I've been there! How cool is that?! Smile

BTW, my donation to CIN this evening is dedicated to all the camera, lighting and production crew of tonight's programme - you did an excellent job guys! Maybe one day in the future I will be joining you... Now that would be a dream come true... Smile

Cheers,
Peter.

Our regional opts were crap! One minute theres a band singing, a crack and a fuzz later and the band has been cut off back to the studio in London! Good old BBC East Midlands. We really trust ya- not!

Of course - I think one of the best bits of this years CiN has been the cute animated Pudseys.

I think they've managed to finally give him a real character - pressing the remote controls, jumping around on the menu astons.

The dancing Pudsey in the big projector during the music numbers always raised a smile!

There were two dancing pudseys were there not, normal dancing pudsey and break dancing pudsey.

Do people in America get to watch children in need?

When I do my BBC Tour of TV Cente in the next few months, will I be able to visit their shop or not?

I think there may have been even more than 2 dances for Pudsey - but they were all funny.

I don't think BBC America took CiN - but BBC Prime did (Alan D - aka The Voice of the Balls - mentioned it at some point) I think it was streamed on the web though - or bits of it were.

Noggin - one thing I've always wondered about these regional music items each year...

how do they sync up the regions so everyone is time (with all the other problems that occur, this never seems to go obviously wrong).

Do all the OBs get sent cue from TVC, even if there were a fraction of a second delay it would be quite obvious - and presumably the time delay each region's feed will be slightly different?

William

It is done very cleverly!

All of the regions are sent separate clean-feeds (or cue or ifb) These are all the backing track - but during line-up with London the OBs and studios involved around the UK send the cue straight back to London. London then tweak the delays on the feed they are sending so they all come back at the same time!

This delay is then used to create a multi-track recording for the transmission. (16 track recorders are pretty common knowadays)

As long as the right track from the playback is routed to the correct OB - and the path between the OB and London is identical to that used in rehearsal - and everyone is in-sync by the time their signal gets back to London.

Very impressive when it works! (The first time it was done most people couldn't believe it - Songs of Praise did it at least 10 years ago I think for a live hymn singing across the world!)

The one in the picture above is visited by studio audience members while they wait to go into a studio. You may well walk past The Foyer on your tour but I doubt they will take you directly there. Strangely, the TVC tour does not involve a visit to a BBC Shop, unlike most other public visits to BBC places...

There is a BBC Shop in Broadcasting House, just off The Strand in central London.

I KNEW I recognised that bit!
I was sitting there thinking 'I'm sure I've been there...' but couldn't place it for a minute...

Did any1 notice the old L& K Studio in Scotland? Weird seeing it again.

Additionally, did any1 see Matt fromblue peter knock his microphone off his stand? Very funny.

WELL DONE again to all at the BBC.

After watching the BBC Newsreader dance thing again, I noticed that Peter Sissons was dancing like how everybody's dad does usually at a wedding. Highly embarrassing.

I wonder why there was no Huw ? Who do you reckon put in the best performance ?
