Was it just my imagination, or did someone tell me that in the future, probably when analogue broadcasting ends, all BBC Channels will be renamed and simply assigned a number instead of the actual name - for example: News 24 could become BBC Three, Knowlege comes BBC Four, etc?
I think News 24 would stay as News 24. BBC CHOICE would become BBC THREE, and BBC KNOWLEDGE would be BBC FOUR

This renaming is due to take place if and when the government approves the changes, and will probably not be until next year now. There's more information at http://www.bbc.co.uk/consult

I got an email off the BBC saying that it has all been approved already. This was quite a while ago as well.

As far as I know it hasn't been approved - the new Culture Secretary, Tessa Jowell, is expected to give her verdict in the coming months.
And it would be good if they made News24 into a tv version of 5 Live in my opinion (I share Chesh's view on this) so it would therefore make sense for it to be BBC Five!

The BBC have called on the government again to get a move on with their decision on the changes , but the Department of Culture have confirmed today that a decision is
not imminent!
For goodness sake, they've had since January!
What do they need government approval for BBC3 & BBC4 anyway when the channels are effectively already in existence?
