As of sometime today, BBC One Channel Islands is testing, so if you guys have still got BBC ONE CI tuned in to Other Channels on Sky, you can see the sheer...delight? that is the opt at 6.30 and 10.25

The South West Acrobats ident into Sporlight at 6.30 was replaced half a second later by the South West (not CI branded) Tai Chi one...they're obviously not too good at opting manually over the top of this feed

Just letting you guys know in case anyone wants to see it - presumably this means it'll be arriving on 958 before too long...

It's been testing a few days now, apparently - although I've not had chance to look yet.

Any idea of the frequencies?

Eek... good job it's only testing... crashing in and out of the South West feed for the 10pm opt-outs.

If you didn't know, the full local bulletin at 10.25pm is from the Channel Islands.

The sound levels and quality seems a bit random!! Doesn't seem that's anything to do with the feed either.

Saw it tonight for the first time.

The opening bit pre-recorded by the South West presenters is very clever. Not too sure about that studio (anyone know if that is the new studio in town or the old one by the transmitter site?) or the dodgy opt-outs

AIUI they are still using the old IBA garage by the transmitter.

I believe that the new studios have only just been agreed on location-wise - certainly I don't think any technical equipping has started yet. I may be wrong - but I think that is what I last heard (less than a month ago)

The opt-out timing may be a bit of a timing issue. Very recently the analogue transmitters for the Channel Islands were moved from an off-air RF feed (of a BBC One South West transmitter on the mainland) to an off-air satellite feed (currently BBC One South West). This means the talkback from London (where the opt-out is called) may well be early compared to the incoming BBC One South West feed from satellite (by up to a couple of seconds)

However once the Channel Islands feed is up and running there will be no need to opt-out of the satellite feed for the analogue transmitters - instead the transmitters will be fed with the BBC One Channel Islands satellite feed...

Both the analogue and digital opts will be co-timed and will take place in Plymouth (a switch between Jersey studio and BBC One South West will take place in Plymouth) - with the analogue transmitter on Jersey fed from the satellite version of BBC One Channel Islands. (This is from Plymouth via London...)

AIUI there will be a low quality (but undelayed) reverse vision feed from Plymouth to Jersey, so that the Jersey gallery can see/hear un-delayed BBC One South West to judge their opt-out point (as their off-air signal on analogue will be very late)

Studio is certainly still at transmitter AFAIK.
Long term it will be part of the new BBC Jersey building with TV on one floor and Radio Jersey on another but as noggin said the property has only recently been agreed/handed over so it's going to be a while yet.

Goodness, that opt at 6.30 really was shockingly bad. SW Acrobats cut into the presenter which cut into a SW Tai Chi symbol. But when it was her turn, the lady said "hello *again* and good evening", which at least shows a sense of humour.

It wasn't a bad service really, the picture is nice and clear and the studio/desk thing is all quite nice. But there ought to be a BBC ONE CI box?

And one of the guys who was going to go up in that balloon in St Ives comes from Alderney. That's their claim to fame for today.

Are any parts of the opening titles actually in the Channel Islands?? There was the South Today old man and Look North's people outside a chippy!
