Yeah it would be. Series 1 begin in 1998, it could be a number of reasons. Ill find out for you.

They can't start too far back to the point it would look dated, they didn't have widescreen in series 1.

Am I right in thinking that these Australian programmes are generally just as cheap as they were 15 years ago acquisition-wise?

Having seen a few of them, the quality of a lot of Oz stuff seems quite reasonable these days. Many of the shows, if cheap enough, would be ideal fodder to show in place of endless repeats and ancient films.
