News today that BBC Broadcasting House in Belfast is to receive a £77m upgrade. This ends rumours that they were to follow UTV and relocate to the docks/Titanic Quarter.
Blackstaff House is being retained and there will be some upgrades there too.
Should be noted that Blackstaff is a (very nice) 4-waller. The technical resources are provided by BBC Northern Ireland's OB truck - which parks up outside.
Indeed, and for the last few years has been used quite a lot as a 4-waller. The CBBC sitcom Millie Inbetween has used it for the last few years, occupying it for several months at a time.

How come they do this? Cost? Have they ever had the technical resources in the building?
And is the OB truck actually in the road much these days?
I suppose it saves having to equip, maintain and upgrade both a gallery and an OB truck when there's not the demand to have both in use at the same time.
I think Studio B at BBC Scotland in Glasgow is similar - it doesn't have a gallery but is used with an OB truck

And that's the plan for one of the studios in the new Cardiff building. In fact, they are already using
that idea at Llandaff, because none the the studios there are equipped for HD. That

BBC Newsline has been going out in HD for ages. The DOG they have on the bottom of the screen doesn't seem to be though, and the general text on the astons doesn't look great, but it's a far sight better than what UTV have at the moment.
