Since BBC World also aims for UK Nationals living abroad, how about a half hour programme dediated to British News only?

There's something like that on the wireless, the World Service, the normal accompaniment to my insomnia.

And you'd think that a lot of non-British people who listen to is would be Anglophiles, Scotiaphiles etc and would also want to see it.

Because it says on their FAQ on the BBCWorld.com site that they do not go into detailed British news because they are an international news channel, not a British news channel on the international arena.

World Service does do something like this.

*runs off to check World Service website*

It's simply called British News, catchy eh?

CNN International do run 'American Edition', which is frankly of no interest to me. The majority of reports are to do with congress. Now, I did have an American friend of mine explain to me how Congress works but I am yet to have a basic grasp of it, so it's pretty pointless.

How many viewers in Poland would really care that, for example, the NHS was set for reform? Not many I'd guess.

Just a note, British News on the World Service is only a ten minute programme.

I'm still amazed by the World Service. It's such a huge operation. But why is there such little talk/availability of it over here? I can't pick it up on short wave radio, only on the internet of Sky Digital. Amazing the BBC have allowed such a service to bypass the British people.

There should be five 30 minute programmes, so that it get's shown at the right time in the five continents.

I think it should be done and i'm sure British people around the world would be very happy to find out what's happening at home.

Hi,

I get BBC World, and I like it a lot, because it is the only channel that offers real world news, unlike Sky News (that inicially was supposed to be a sort of pan-european news channel, like EuroNews).
I don't think they should mix british news with their main programmes, however, if they show Asia Today and Australia Direct, why not a small programme? Or better, a 30 min programme dedicated exclusivelly to european news....

Regards
Dann
