During the Neighbours credits, BBC Bristol opted out to a greyscale testcard (I forget the technical name, it's the one with the purple stripe on the left), then back to Neighbours.

When the following promos were played, they came back with the testcard, and then we got the promos back, but in grimey quality, and it turns out that this was comming from BBC South as we got a Tai Chi ident from there. Before the opt out section of the News intro, there was a flash, and then we got BBC LDN doing their link instead of BBC South or BBC Bristol.

EDIT: Ok, we just got a Points West link, so it's back to normal probably.
I managed to get some of this on tape, will post if nobody else has got it Smile I'm still taping the rest of it just to see if we actually get Points West tonight or not, and if not, what happens.

I guess the BBC South bit was someone managing to disconnect the feed to the transmitter and it rebroadcasting its nearest neighbour?

Not quite. If the main network feed goes down, the back-up is Southampton. From what I was told, network went down, they tried to switch to backup, which came up after the bars, then during the national heads the network feed came back up (you can see the picture flick during the heads where they switched)... Not quite sure why the Bristol opt failed, though.
