Unfortunately, I was away from the Monday after the BBC Bomb, in Belgium, so I completely missed that week. Can anyone tell me who presented on News 24 that week? I've just downloaded a clip from 'TV Stuff' which shows the 0900 bulletin on Monday 5 March 2001, and Darren Jordon was presenting with Joanna Gosling. How long was Darren presenting for?

I THINK its was Susan Osman presenting World/News 24 in the hours that followed the bomb - she was in the BBC World studio.

Yes, I know who presented on Sunday:

0000-0600 Susan Osman/Adrian Finighan
0600-0900 Darren Jordon & Liz Pike
0900-1300 Maxine Mawhinney
1300-1600 Anita McNaught
1600-1900 Peter Coe
1900-2400 Chris Lowe

But who presented on Monday-Friday?

Thanks anyway!!Smile

Do any of the BBC World presenters ever appear on BBC One?
I presume many of them started off at BBC One News, be it as a reporter or otherwise, although I know some have come from CNN and Sky.

Did Nik Gowing ever present BBC One News, or has he always been at World?

Well, George Ekyn (bad spelling, sorry) did the news on Breakfast on Friday, but I've never seen Stephen Cole or Nik Gowing on News 24 or One.

Adrian Finighan used to present BBC News 24, and current 'double' presenters are Philip Hayton and Peter Coe. I've also seen Anita McNaught on BBC News 24, not only when the bomb exploded, but she was on for a while last year. I think she filled in for Jane Hill or someone like that.

Phillip Hayton used to present the One O'Clock News on BBC1 a while ago. I don't understand why the beeb have stuck him on World for one of the late-night shifts. He's one of the best presenter's I've seen and has a great sense of humour! (He's on during the 6.00/7.00 pm ET programme shown on BBC America/PBS)

Stephen Cole came from Sky, i'll have you know Smile

Does anyone have any clips of him presenting? I haven't seen him for ages.

George Eykyn also presented a News Summary not long back, as well as during Christmas, with another presenter doing the other longer evening bulletins.

I think Darren Jordon did until 1000, with Joanna Gosling and then swopping with Nik Gowing, but Joanna staying on, because he also presented the 'Breakfast' slot on BBC World, from 0600-1000 which is the normal hours of BBC World presentation, otherwise Nik Gowing would have done too many bulletins.

I don't like Stephen Cole. He always seems half-asleep when he presents and he sometimes mumbles and/or doesn't speak loud enough so I have to strain to here him.

Rob - Thanks for the plug for the site! Smile
For anyone who hasn't found the appropriate page, it's @

I can confirm the following line-up of presenters after the bomb:
0000-0200 Adrian Finighan (recorded bulletins from earlier)
0200-0300 Susan Osman (Live from Westminster)
0300-0600 Adrian Finighan (Live, back in World studio)

We were treated to full BBC World overnight and then to a 'special joint service' from 6am onwards, I think - it may have been 9am. Overnight the picture was very weird - up until 2 it was showing in 18:9 I think, then switched to 4:3 stretched to 16:9 (again I think).

I thought it was just Liz Pike in the morning from 6-9... but didn't see it again until the evening with Chris Lowe.

The next morning, Darren and Joanna were indeed on for an hour from 9 followed by Joanna and Nik. I have a clip of the two of them somewhere - I'll try and dig it out.

And finally, if memory serves, News 24 returned properly at 1pm on the Monday.
