I don't know about the rest of the BBC Big screens, but the one in Exchange Square in Manchester was showing the Channel 4 Ashes coverage yesterday.

Interesting?!

not really, they are not bbc owned, they are simply bbc operated.

I heard talk that there was going to be a big screen erected in Cardiff. Haven't heard any more about that, though.

Maybe it could go somewhere along Queen St outside the St Davids shopping centre? Hmm...

Couldn't London have one? Perhaps at Piccadilly Circus by all the neon signs

There was one in Customs House Square in Belfast for the Live8 Concerts, is it still there?

There was a big screen, showing cricket, in Canary Wharf yesterday - hundreds of people crowded outside 1 Canada Square. Don't know if it's BBC operated though.

I gather that the only current permanent BBC Big Screens are in Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham and Southampton.

Very suprised that there isn't one in London yet.

not southampton

there is a touring screen in addition to the permanent screens in birmingham, liverpool, manchester and hull.

lack of suitable/available location in london is the most likely reason for their lack of screen, and probably siting screens elsewhere is a higher priority - as its a nod towards the corporations "out of london" strategy.

the next 2 cities are wrexham and leeds.

I've seen this happen before, albeit they were showing ITV when England were playing a World Cup (Football) match that the BBC weren't showing. The one in Manchester mainly shows News 24 with Local information at the side, though I've seen it flip channels at 3.20pm on a weekday, so I'd presume each BBC Local News (in Manchester's case North West Today) is broadcast on there.
