Well the BBC's Director General has just apologised to any viewers angered by the broadcast. 'There were times when the tone of the programme were appropriate', he said.

I felt sorry for all americans who saw the programme, people can have their say but to be so un-caring and insencative so soon after the attack was terrable.

Agree entirely with Steve's first post.
I think we need to be wary of the civil liberties people. It does concern me that they campaign against things like ID Cards and CCTV.
It is important that people do not go to work with the risk they will be blown up / vaporised / forced to throw themselves off buildings etc.
Because of this, we need to do all we can to try and precent this. I din't think ID cards / CCTV can hinder the fight against global terrorism, and hence feel that these kind of things should be far more widespread.
Civil liberties often seems to be interpreted as the freedom to commit crime. I think there should be more of a freedom to be protected.
I agree, surley CCTV telps potect us, i notnt find it an infringment of my civil liberties, I dont notice it and why should any law obiding citizen care if there cougth on Tape??

Nick Hyam (BBC Media Corresp) in Cambridge at RTS was asked for reaction to Greg Dyke's apology for the programme LIVE today on N24. Not a very good media corresp though he said at the start of the interview that he HADN'T EVEN SEEN IT!!!!

Also the Talebhan (sp??)
I think there are four ways of spelling this unrecognised government (it's only accepted as an official government by Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia - but the latter is wavering about its support)
Taleban (most common)
Taliban
Teliban
Teleban.

it was a LIVE broadcast, how could they have known what people would say...
I didn't see Question Time, so I can't really comment on that, but what I definitely think is appalling is that the BBC are showing Casualty tonight. I assumed they'd cancel it - seeing as ITV cancelled Holiday Airline the other night on the basis that it involved aeroplanes - but for some inexplicable reason they still showed it. I thought they'd at least make an announcement before the programme along the lines of 'due to the events of the past week, you may not want to watch lots of people being gruesomely injured and dying on telly', but they didn't even do that. Shocking.
They're bound to be slated for this, and quite frankly they deserve it.
