Sorry for all these questions.... but!

What are the current shifts BBC Continuity Announcers work?

There seems to be 3 voices per day although at lunchtime the BBC2 announcer seems to be voicing BBC1 as well - is that right?

Do all announcers work on both channels or do some just work solely on BBC1 or 2?

Which parts of the day are recorded?

Who are the other main male voices - a few sound similar, but one in particular sounds more 'mature' than the others. We know Duncan, Phil, Delroy I am sure there is one more.

It seems to me that CA shift patterns are still based on the days before 24-hour broadcasting, in which case they need updating and live continuity made the norm round the clock.

With respect, what's that got to do with anything?

This thread is about announcer shift patterns, right, and while I couldn't tell you what they are I did think that was relevant.

BBC1 seems to have one announcer going from 2:30pm weekdays right through to end of play - and we know how late that can be.

No that's not the one I was thinking of. He was on last Saturday night on BBC1 - does a good job don't get me wrong just not as creative as the others.

Is it just me or do BBC continuity announcers make appearances on UKTV?

Who's the announcer who closed the old BBC ONE idents in October? I think he is the best one at the moment.

Yeah, I've heard Duncan on UKTV Gold a few times. They're broadcast from the same building (BBC Broadcast Centre) so it's best to make use of existing resources!

That was Phil Vowels. He was also the last announcer to use the 1991 "laserdisc" globe (before the balloons era).
