If and when the analogue signal is switched off does anybody agree with me that all national and international news bulletins including Newsnight presently on BBC One and Two will be shown on BBC News 24 together with programmes like Panorama included on the same channel.
Also does anybody agree that all Westminster political programmes will only be shown on the current BBC Parliament including On The Record and Question Time.
And would that mean that BBC One becomes an entertainment, film and sports channel with only the regional news and political shows. And would BBC Two be restricted to documentaries, the Arts and Sport.
And would BBC Three and Four be for what the BBC have recently been proposing to the government.

When BBC ONE & TWO analogue signals are switched off I don't want much to change, people who already have digital like things the way they are. BBC ONE should certainly keep it's NEWS at 1,6 and 10 and all normal bulletins, sorry but I can't see a channel like BBC ONE not showing NEWS because one of it's other channels is. The key thing in didgital tv is more choice which u wouldn't get if there was only news on one BBC Channel.
N24 wont be shown on BBC1 overnight after the switch off- there'd be no point.

Does that mean a return of the legendary The Closedown is imminent? Not a closedown, but The Closedown? Cool...

david16,
I thought this as well. As far as I'm aware once
everybody
in the UK has got digital TV (whether it be terrestrial, satellite or cable is irrelevent), because all analogue has been switched off, we'll all have BBC News 24 won't we?
So it does seem fairly pointless for the BBC to have scheduled news bulletins at certain times on One and Two, when they've got a rolling channel that
everyone
can receive providing news.
Having to get used to switching over from One at 1300, 1800 and 2200 in order to see news is not much to ask viewers to do.
N24 wont be shown on BBC1 overnight after the switch off- there'd be no point.
That's a good point. I wonder if it will be truly 24/7 then?

The bulletins on BBC 1 serve a different purpose from the service on N24.
One is for people who want to receive all their news in one summary, one is rolling news. There is no reason to change how things are now.
My only gripe is that I hope 1,2,3+4 get their own customised styles of BBC News targetted at the audiences the main channels serve, ie - higher-brow news on BBC 4, something similar to Channel 5 News on BBC 3 (60 seconds is a good idea but I dont think it works as a substitute for full bulletins), etc.

indigoBen hit the nail right on the head... an in-depth nightly world news bulletin will be part of the BBC4 offering from the word go. It'll be more indepth and upmarket than the bulletins on 1 & 2, kind of a Newsnight/main bulletin cross. As for 60 seconds, that was one of the first BBC3 commissions (but the Beeb were so excited at the new show they brought it forward and planted it on Choice).

Sorry for double-postage... it was due to computer slowness (Crowdie kicks PC out of far window)... that's better...
