BBC America

Hi there,

As mentioned in the BBC World News thread, it appears BBC America has adopted BBC One's current presentation. As you may remember, BBC America launched using the BBC One balloons. Now, having used its own rather funky pres for a few years, it's now returned to sharing BBC One's idents and presentation.

If anyone can cap some stuff, that'd be great. At the moment, the only clues confirming the change is the presence of a hippo at http://www.bbcamerica.com (plus a lot more red I suppose) and the design of the page selling BBC America programmes on iTunes US (which launched today) is in the style of BBC One's red endboard.

Yeah, I'd like to see the adapted idents... very odd...

I wonder if this has anything to do with BBC America HD?

Were the BBC One idents filmed in HD, if so, this could be a cheap way to re-brand BBC America, give them a custom made font, and have a consistent look between the two channels...

Then maybe they will use them for the SD and HD BBC America then?

With them using BBC One pres, would it not have made more sense to keep the abc-like logo to fit in with the circles?
