Interesting that they're promoting www.bbcalba.co.uk rather than www.bbc.co.uk/alba... or not that interesting depending on which way you look at it!

They could do a similar thing for BBC1, etc too as they already have the domains bought.

That has to be the BEST news jingle ever! Love it - shame Reporting Scotland didn't use that much ingenuity! (apologies for spelling)

But the convention is that they only quote:
bbc.co.uk/ whatever
never anything more.
The branding guidelines are different once you are dealing with non-English content. All World Service languages are branded in terms of their .com domain name, which redirects to www.bbc.co.uk/something or news.bbc.co.uk/something for the CPS languages. I'm surprised they are not using bbcalba.com, as it has been registered by the BBC.
Try any of the following and look at the branding at the top of the web page if you don't believe me about the World Service:
bbcalbanian.com
bbcarabic.com
bbcazeri.com
bbcbrasil.com
bbcburmese.com
bbccarabbean.com
bbcchinese.com
(and so on for the rest of the World Service Languages)
Just to add a touch more detail/confusion to things, BBC Alba publish their news stories through 'Topcat' which is the World Service web content publishing system, even though they are not part of the World Service. That's why the layout of http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/alba/naidheachdan/ looks more like a World Service page than a CPS page on news.bbc.co.uk.

IIRC, BBC Arabic has nothing to do with BBC News, so may not necessarally follow the BBC News branding.
I'm not sure what relationship An La has with BBC News.
Sadly it''s not about channel relationships, it's about making the output uniform across all channels. I've not seen any work done towards the Arabic version of the LN branding, however the change to the LN branding for Arabic TV was confirmed to me very recently by someone senior enough in World Service marketing to know about these things.
BBC Persian TV has been designed from day 1 to use the LN news branding, so don't get your hopes up for something very different from the bulletins on the BBC News channel when it launches in <mumble>.
This is why news on BBC Alba looks the same as news elsewhere on the BBC.

Due to the box just having BBC in, i presume bbc arabic when it adopts lambie nairn's bbc news brand will look like a fliped round version of that.
With pink instead of teal though.

I thought An La went really well last night... well done everyone
A couple of things I've noticed with the channel so far tho...
* It's nice to see VITC making an appearance again
* It's nice to see mis-timed sources & associated vision hops making an appearance again - even in the digital age
* I'm loving the countdown! It's so restful & calming. Makes me want to get my slippers on & relax with a nice cup of cocoa in front of a roaring fire
* Opening night for me was a bit flat. I was expecting the gathered crowd to be cheering and clapping etc off the back of each programme, especially Elvis. Instead we see a WS of the presenter with a couple of members of the audience just creaping into shot looking bored
--- edited bit ---
It's unfortunate that due to the way An La is produced, it's impossible for the Presenter to have a natural chat with, say, the Sports Presenter in the studio plasma. The vision delay between Glasgow to Inverness back to Glasgow really shows itself when whoever's at the outside source talks in the plasma shot
Also with An La... it'd be really good if a GPI was fired from the vision mixer to whatever is used to play the vamps/stabs/bongs during the headlines/round-up sequences so the bongs are in sync with the vision transitions. The headlines & round ups seemed somewhat disjointed to me because the bongs & wipes didn't hit at the same time
--- end of edited bit ---

I'm guessing that the only person who did the music for An La was David Lowe, what with its thunderclaps and other similarities. I'm overwhelmed by the quality of the An La programme, everything is of a high standard.
I'm wondering who will be doing the BBC Persian music (David Lowe?), and what the graphics will look like for that. I hope they don't base it too strictly on BBC News Channel, they shouldn't make it feel too Western. Give it a Middle Eastern edge.
Nor do I hope they change the music for Arabic, or the colour scheme from the current graphics. They are the best graphics and music packages ever!!

AIUI BBC Farsi may be quite a bit different to BBC Arabic in "channel" terms - as I believe it is not going to be quite such a continuous news channel, and may have a slightly more varied schedule?
