BBC Africa Season

i have heard and seen lots of articles on the media talking about the BBC Africa season and this will be "part of the BBC Africa Season". I was wondering, what exactly is this season about? Obviously about Africa but in what context? I take it there will also be special programming as well - can anyone give me some details of the programming and purpose of the season?

Didn't we have the Jamaica season on the BBC as well not too long ago? We got some new BBC Two idents to coincide with that as well. Perhaps there will be some more (much needed) idents added to the collection during this season.
