BBC 4 new ident

Because they don't involve much, choose a couple of stills or a short clip of library video, bung it through the established quadranting software, hit record and your there. With a few exceptions which don't involve quadrants which in theory should be even cheaper to produce.

There is a repeat of the programme that ident was used into on Thursday I believe.

It turned up tonight, so I cant tell if its now going to be used with all space programmes? yet it was used on moon programmes on Sunday.

Is the space/satellite ident part of the mix now? It was just used going in to a programme about Britain's Nuclear bomb. Has Gulls and books been taken out of action Since Last May?

I've not seen Swimming Pool either in a while - though it's not the weather for it just yet!

Swimming pool hasn't been used for a few years now! I have all recorded all of the TOTPs that BBC Four have shown since 2011 with the idents at the front, so if I had the inclination I could go back and see when it the swimmers last popped up, but it must be a good 3-4 years now.


The gulls and books disappeared in January 2016 when BBC Four brought back some of the abstract and pop art idents for a few months. Only the lake and the flowers still survive from the 2005 set.

I recall seeing the gulls last year on FOUR; they've supplanted some of the idents with the three (Beacon, Trees, Home) introduced last year - possibly to keep the current set fresh.

I've whizzed through my TOTP discs, and my last recording of Swimming Pool is from November 2014. From late January 2016 it's mostly two of the pop art idents and one of the abstract idents, along with the lake and the flowers. Maybe the gulls and the library were still there as well, but I never saw them again after January.

Then those three new idents appear around June/July, overlapping with the pop art/abstract idents for a short while. And then there's Jo Brand, the conceptual art idents and somebody producing some cut-out artwork (not sure what you'd call it), so overall last year was pretty confusing when it came to BBC Four idents!

The new idents appeared in early to mid May, The problem is if you blink you may actually mist an ident being used. I do remember nearly every time I watch BBC4 a while back it was always library.

There're definitely four of the Music Night ones - as seen last night.

There is a Japanese season coming. Will it be new ident or could there just reuse the old one from years ago?
