The bilingual version (as per BBC One Wales) of Series 1 of Hinterland was shown on BBC4. According to Wikipedia: "The first episode was later aired nationwide on BBC Four on 28 April 2014 to an audience of 789,000. Episodes 2–4 were watched by 668,000, 566,000 and 663,000 viewers respectively."
Was the C4 broadcat preceeded by a sting or anything?
As with most websites nowadays it seems a bit of a mess - doesn't seem to be an easy to find link for all the content on the Walter Presents homepage, though if you browse through the All4 menus you can find a World Drama section with just 9 shows under the Walter Presents banner and three more as More4 shows.
Probably. The WP version was used for Spin again yesterday.

It’s not only Faroese sweaters that have enjoyed a boom in sales since The Killing. Since BBC4’s Danish import arrived on British screens four years ago, viewers have embraced a steady stream of foreign language dramas. Almost two million tuned in for The Bridge; Saturday night ratings for series three, aired in the run-up to Christmas on BBC4, were topped only by BBC1 and ITV.
But the flood of Scandi noir, including Wallander and Arne Dahl, has also broadened to include other genres, from Sky Arts’ Swedish counselling comedy Dag to Channel 4’s existential Gallic zombie drama The Returned. On 3 January, a wealth of new foreign shows will be made available, packaged box-set style and free to view, on Walter Presents, part of Channel 4’s on demand hub All4.
Casting its net a little wider than normal, Walter Presents will showcase dramas from territories including Poland, Argentina and the Czech Republic, with a target of accumulating more than 600 hours of programming. And with Netflix and Amazon also buying up foreign drama, there will be plenty of choice in 2016.
They seem to do as well, if not better, than imported US drama at the moment. Would be interesting to compare the demos too - I suspect they're more attractive to advertisers.

D83 was the third most watched C4 programme that week. I seem to remember a spike in viewing for The Returned series 1 on C4, stabilising at around 800-900k. However, D83 is a lot easier for Joe Public to get into, so hopefully this will outperform The Returned.
'Deutschland 83' is great fun but about as subtle as a brick. Like Ashes To Ashes, and almost every other 80's period drama, the "LOOK! IT'S THE 80's!" shtick is going to get really tiresome really fast. ITV's meatier 'The Americans' is the better spy thriller imo.
