Would like to see Arte as a broadcast channel in the UK. According to their website, increasing distribution across Europe is a priority.

I guess it is possible they might go onto Astra 28.2 - but given the Sky and Freesat EPG costs and the costs of carriage - that might need a reasonable commitment. Deutsche Welle and TVE International both left the Sky platform because they couldn't make it economically viable. On the other hand TV5 Monde are still there.

In theory (I believe) London could be described as France's 6th largest city as there are so many French people here - so there may be a market...

Are the English subs easily available on the current French or German service?

Not sure - will check when I can. However it could be that only some shows are getting English subs - and as the main Arte outputs aren't on satellites aimed at the UK there may not be felt to be much point in adding them to the linear playout system?

During the final episode of The Returned series 2, More4 were trailing Spin during every break.

Incidentally, The Returned on Nov 20th had 256k viewers.

The Bridge Series 3 had 1.8m for episode 1 and 1.5m for episode 2 on BBC Four. Great numbers for the Scandi drama.

They are clearly proud, the CA mentioned the numbers before Episode 3.

I wonder if Walter Presents will give viewers the option of watching without subtitles too.

Suspect if they are shows that are also airing on C4/More4 they will be burned in (as they will be on the TX Masters)
