Watching back the Opening Ceremony makes you wonder why Trish Bertram wasn't the announcer at the Opening Ceremony.
May explain why she was there at the closing though...
I'm sure I'm not alone in preferring the announcer at the opening ceremony.

To be honest I actually quite liked the opening ceremony announcer (Layla). I thought she had a nice accent and a more expressive and engaging voice than previous announcers (who all tend to sound quite similar and bland). Do you think she was always supposed to do the opening only, or was she dropped? The male announcer was the same for both ceremonies.
Looking through Trish's twitter she said on 27 July during the Opening Ceremony that she was ruled out of the doing the olympic ceremonies because her French wasn't strong enough. Suggests her work at the Closing Ceremony was a last minute thing then.

At the opening the two announcers would alternate English and French whereas at the closing the guy only did French (I think).
