Olympics 2012: The Opening Ceremony

We don't seem to have a dedicated thread yet, but think it's worth breaking away from the existing threads for tonights coverage.

Great intro from Sherlock Holmes, and never thought I'd see Huw Edwards linking into Dizzie Rascall.

I supposed we had better get used to seeing people like Huw Edwards with BBC Sport Microphones and being namechecked with BBC Sport graphics, eh?

Stadium studio looks great.


Glad they've made an effort rather than a couple of stalls.

Nice to see Mishal in the BBC One coverage, also. She's in the BBC One studio, with Jake.

Am I just imagining it, or is there a slight echo in BBC One studio?

Not great sound-mixing so far. That's twice they've faded up Sue/Gary a little late and cut off the beginning of their sentences.

Never come across Husain before - what is her regular gig?

Huw's face is over lit, looking really bad.

Huw is in a commentary position though, not really meant to be on-screen.

Mishal Hussain also does weekend BBC1 bulletins fairly regularly.

I assume the BBC will show the 20:12 pre-show rather than let it play out in the background, but they've not really mentioned it.

Really should have stayed in the stadium, when the Red Arrows went over.
