BBC 2012 - The Olympic Broadcaster

It's almost all over . . . (November 2011)

But the BBC World version doesn't have the yellowness... it just looks like it's somehow lost the blue channel, (somewhat understandable in the component era, but not these days), except there is a little bit of it there, so it's a deliberate decision Confused

If you mean the BBC World News London Live titles as can be seen on BBC Four, they're completely different anyway. They're proper news titles with all the 'swooshes' and the cats-cradle of London place names.

The Countdown titles are just brief clips of the run up to the Olympics followed by the end shot of the stadium as seen in the World titles - the only common element.

BBC Blocks appeared on BBC One HD back then after the local opt. Only lasted a few seconds.

I know the BBC only has UK rights to the Olympics but does anyone know if overseas broadcasters holding rights are using the BBC's presentation for all/some of the games (eg the opening ceremony) for their local coverage?

You know the BBC aren't host broadcaster?

But I guess some may use BBC commentaries for events, isn't there isn't a world feed commentary being provided.

The stadium studio is very nice. Very low level of crowd noise as the moment, despite it being without a window.

Yes. I know Olympic Broadcasting Services is the host broadcaster but I was wondering whether anyone is taking some of the BBC's output (like the programming going out now) which I imagine OBS is unlikely to offer an equivalent.

There is an international feed commentary available, Barry Davis is doing it for OBS

and will probably be preferable to whatever commentary the BBC provide.

Anyone else think the BBC have missed a trick in not designing a special graphics package that could be used by both News and Sport programmes? Having the 5-6 hour with the BBC News look and then a programme with essentially the same name from 7-9 with the BBC Sport look seems a bit strange. Olympic Breakfast will probably have the same issue.

Good !! I suspect his commentary was used in places such as South Africa, and NZ ?

I know for a fact that MNET/SuperSport of SA have very minimal presence on site in London for the games.

I actually missed having David Coleman commentating via a phone line circuit Laughing

Has the gold looking logo got anything to do with the Olympics?
