I think the main set has been influenced by the Olympic velodrome.

What was the Smart TV thing they were showing? Is there a BBC Olympics App? What devices is it available for?
The BBC Olympics app is avaible on Apple (iPhone and iPod, on iPad I think you can view the desktop site) and most andriod devices.

I meant the Smart TV app. After further investigation, it seems that it is only available on Samsung TVs.

Was at Broadcasting House earlier for a demo of NHK's Super Hi-Vision ultra high definition system, it is very impressive, amazingly detailed pictures of London and the Olympic Park (and Elbow's theme music didn't sound bad coming through the 22.2 channel sound system!). There was also a nice little exhibition on the history of Olympic broadcasting with one of the cameras used in the 1948 games, one of the experimental HD cameras from 1984, that sort of thing.
And, yes, I did have a peek at the new newsroom, looks great!

The one on Samsung is exactly the same as the app on Playstation 3 (a lot quicker on the PS3 too!). Think I saw it on a Panasonic too, but I might be wrong.

To be fair, Matt Baker has probably only be shown how to use it quickly once, other presenters may have had more practice.
It is a bit gimmicky though.
I think all of the Olympic presenters - including Matt Baker (he's presenting a chunk of BBC One's daytime output as well as commentating on gymnastics again) - are rehearsing over the next day or two - and I suspect that new technology is going to take a while to get to grips with.
Nice that 4 years ago Adrian Chiles was in Beijing doing a live into The One show, 4 years later it's Matt - both straddle the BBC Sport / BBC One camps.

Drop the fancy circle thing, it's already gone wrong.

A bit misleading I think. For the EastEnders publicity team to imply it was a real part of the torch relay is one thing, but for the BBC News Channel to do it is quite another.
It *was* a real part of the torch relay.
That's impossible, for 2 obvious reasons:
Borehamwood isn't even part of the Olympic Torch relay. The closest it will be is Harrow and Barnet tomorrow.
Yesterday evening, the torch was in Wandsworth.
The torch can be at two places at once, as proved when it was in Wales. It was extinguished on the coast, lit in Llanberis for the trip up to the summit of Snowdon, then extinguished and relit on the coast.
Doubt LOCOG/the IOC would have allowed a 'fake' flame to have burned in a replica torch.
EastEnders just made an appearance on the BBC News Channel.

Er, why?
More to the point, why would the Eastenders production team need the real flame to film their story?

I thought it was part of the torch relay in the same way as the stunts like having the person stand on top of the London Eye with it the other day. It's not part of the procession, but still the real flame (two hours was plenty of time to get it up to Elstree) and presumably Perry Fenwick can count himself as a genuine torchbearer.

According to some of the earlier publicity, it'll be seen a lot more on BBC Three than BBC One, so hopefully Jake's a lot better with it!

He's not listed on the website as a torch bearer - http://www.london2012.com/torch-relay/torchbearers/day=2012-07-23/index.html
