BBC 2012 - The Olympic Broadcaster

It's almost all over . . . (November 2011)

I've just noticed that when I tried to pause on BBC Olympics 1 HD, it says it's not available. I can't upload a screenshot unfortunately, but it says;
Quote:
Live pause is not avaliable. Call the broadcaster for assistance

In a Sky+HD 'For your information' banner. It also won't record, is this going to be fixed before Wednesday when the footie starts?

The Sky EPG has always had the ability to mark shows as being unrecordable, as Blake points out is used for downtime as well. If you try to record/pause/rewind BBC HD Preview you get exactly the same thing.

Some Olympic shows actually start before the opening ceremony. Will BBC1's Olympic ident possibly debut before those shows?

I didn't think it was worth starting a new thread, or digging out the EastEnders thread. But given that Billy Mitchell who is supposed to an Olympic torch barer, according to the synopsis on tonight's episode, is supposed caught up in some bother getting to Albert Square tonight, can anyone tell me if any contingency plans have been made if he can't get there on time? Will another character be called upon or will the previous torch barer do a second leg?

Don't worry, Billy Mitchell is a fictional character. I am sure it will all work out well in the end.

Anyone capture the 'Next' slide before 8pm Eastenders this evening? It was similar to the endboard of the animated Olympic trailer but with the boxed BBC One logo positioned centre-left.

I was told a few months ago that they would not be making any special idents for the Olympics - although I am hoping that has since changed.

I know that and I know the rest of the episode has been prerecorded, but what if what they prereocored was him not getting to Albert Square on time, are there any plans then?

Are you talking about [real person] Perry Fenwick getting to [real place] Elstree or [fictional character] Billy Mitchell getting to [fictional location] Albert Square? Either way, what is the source of your worry?

I wonder if the Olympic torch convoy cam which follows behind for the live web feed, will be working to see all the EastEnders camera team along the sides of the roads. Smile

I don't think it will be on the torch cam because its not part of the official route - it's classed as a private event.

Actors are playing the Met Torch Security Team...

That means they'll be dressed in pink-skiing outfits if EastEnders' past is anything to go by!
