Digiguide now has the 24 Olympic channels, plus Freeview 302 / 301 HD, with listings for the full first week. We knew this would be the case but Olympics 23 & 24 get very little use - indeed I wonder if the downtime will just be holding captions (like the test we've seen) or if there will be an Olympics news loop to use as filler.

I'm pretty sure you'll just get holding captions. There isn't a whole lot of infrastructure in the way to allow much else. Are 22 other channels of sport not enough for you? Smile

Whilst theirs 24 olympic channels, its actually 12 as they are SD simulcasts. corralates to whats on offer to ebu broadcasters 11 direct olympic feeds + olympic news channel.

Nope, the BBC definitely had 24. We even tested them out across a couple of mornings this week from the gallery in Stratford - I'm slightly disappointed nobody here or in the other place posted a screengrab after all the effort we went to to hide the BBC's phone number at the IBC!

satmanHD on Digital Spy has posted a link to graphics. It is more of the same as many expected, with slight alterations.

Disappointed they're not similar to the ones they're used in the video game. I was looking forward to seeing them on the telly.

Those are Beijing graphics - the images are all from Beijing.

Definitely looks like these are the London graphics - the athletics pictogram is the one for London and some of the Beijing graphics had a lighter blue background with the "lucky clouds" graphics (shame there doesn't seem to be any sign of the diagonal criss-cross pattern from London on these).

Ah, didn't see that. Can now see that the streams are almost ready to go, though - they're now carrying accurate listings for Wednesday and Thursday. One thing I've appreciated about these streams is that a couple of them have been carrying the Torchcam, even when it's not on the red button (and in some cases even when the web stream is off!).

Going back to 60 Seconds, they're also going to be doing these approximate hourly bulletins throughout the day too. Claudia Liza-Armah will present the day shift, Sam Naz evenings.

I see that on Freeview Ch 301 will be reduced to 'Audio Only' for the opening ceremony because there's not enough bandwidth to carry the same pictures on BBC 1, BBC News, and 301 !

Quite why BBC News feels compelled to duplicate BBC 1 (with gallons of inane on screen junk no doubt) is beyond me, but the Beeb really do themselves no favours at all !!

Thanks for that, The encoder issue has been known about for ages, since the introduction of DTT, but no reliable reference has been available. When I've brought it up in the past, it's been dismissed as rubbish, at last we have official confirmation of this phenomenon which can be referenced back to.

I hear that BBC World News will be broadcasting fom the Olympic Park from a special studio. Will the BBC News Channel also be doing this? If not that seems very poor indeed to the domestic audience.

I suppose they could use a locked off camera at the Olympic Park and project it onto the Barco screens in N6 if they don't.

Presumably BBC News will be dipping in and out of the ceremony, making sure they're with it for the key moments. It'll catch people who are out and about in places where News Channel is left on screens all the time. Also gives them something that Sky News can't show!

World will be broadcasting from a studio on top of Ironworks, overlooking the Olympic Park. The BBCs rights don't cover them, so they're as restricted in the same way Sky or ITN are. (Even more so in terms of footage.)

News Channel have a number of positions inside the park.

Speaking of video projectors- peaking through an open door into in NBCs space in the IBC they have a projected image of one of the OBS beauty shots overlooking the park. Perhaps they're trying to make up for not having any windows! They've also got a huge projected image of their NBC 2012 Olympics logo just inside their entrance doors. The BBC have... a pull up sign on a stand Smile

OK thanks for this, could the News channel not of also used a studio on top of Ironworks? Although space may have been limited.

Sky will probably try and do the best they can from outside the Olympic Park. I'm sure they'd be able to show the fireworks. A camera situated anywhere near the Olympic Park would give some sort of view.

They might have facilities at Lund Point. thegeek would know better than me on that one. Incredible backdrop for the rooftop studio there.
