Those updates may very well be very Olympic orientated anyway, and take the place of random Jake might do himself in the studio.

They could even be presented from the same studio, just a 60 Seconds sting, blast of news, handover back to Jake / presenter / commentator. IMHO it's the ideal sort of news coverage for this type of event, and two / three minute breaks in proceedings aren't unusual for a number of reasons (I once caused a pair of two minute breaks in one softball match due to battery issues with the "umpire cam"). And sailing in Athens occaisionally had a few minutes of much reduced production, which in no way at all co-incided with the ice cream van arriving at the OB compound.

That would make sense and give the update some context, rather than it seeming to be randomly plonked in.

We'll forgive you. Wink

60 Seconds has never been regimented in it's scheduling, tonight for example, they had bulletins at 7pm, (big gap due to Basketball) 9.30, 10pm, 11.30 and the final at 12.15.

And they lose a bulletin if BBC Three schedule a film for example.

satmanHD on Digital Spy has posted a link to graphics. It is more of the same as many expected, with slight alterations.

Disappointed they're not similar to the ones they're used in the video game. I was looking forward to seeing them on the telly.

Those are Beijing graphics - the images are all from Beijing.

With no highlights show as such that is one thing I think they need - a simple sport by sport round up of the days news. The news channel have Sportsday but they're likely to concentrate mainly on the big stories.

Gabby Logan will bring together the sport and late-night events from across the UK from 2240-midnight.

Whilst theirs 24 olympic channels, its actually 12 as they are SD simulcasts. corralates to whats on offer to ebu broadcasters 11 direct olympic feeds + olympic news channel.

Great to read that Barry Davies will commentate for Olympic Broadcast Services on the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. He's hinted that he may retire after London 2012 and if that is so then this as fitting a climax to his career as possible.

It's apparently from a media pack. As this years games haven't happened yet, it would have been difficult to use images from this years event in a media pack that was being printed before it happened.

They are certainly not the exact graphics used in Beijing, although similar.
The top two images is the Athens stadium.

Think you may be mistaken there. Looking at Kingofsat.net : http://en.kingofsat.net/find.php?question=bbc+olympics&Submit=Zap

There are 3 x DVB-S transponders carrying 8 SD channels each and 6 x DVB-S2 transponders carrying 4 channels each. That makes 24 SD and 24 HD streams. Haven't had time to check - but I'd be surprised if it were wrong.

Others appear to agree : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_channels_on_Sky#Channels_testing_off_the_EPG_before_launch though Wikipedia is never a guaranteed source of information...

I wouldn't base what the BBC does on what the EBU does in this instance.

Oh dear looks like I need to retune, thanks noggin Smile

The other info from the EBU was from Satelliweb quote from satmanHD from Satelliweb
Quote:

Direct feeds from the IBC located in Stratford. 11 channels will be available to RHB + 1 ready to broadcast news channel.

These feeds are on 10e I've not checked however and I presume will get encrypted anyway.
