It's almost all over . . . (November 2011)

Very interesting watch. I wonder what Debbie Jevans meant by 'moving the broadcast positions' in Centre Court? I presume she means the commentary boxes? I wonder where they are moving to . . . further up in the grandstand? It will be strange not seeing the boxes right beside the big scoreboard.
Don't quote me on this, but it appears they're going to be taking over the Royal Box, for nearly 40 commentary positions.

Was around the Olympic Park earlier, took this pic of the BBC One and BBC Three studios

That must be a hefty amount of zoom you've used if that was taken from John Lewis! Smile

Yep! Very Happy

The BBC Three studio is more or less right next to the London Overground line, doesn't seem particularly soundproofed, not sure whether that might cause any problems.

Wimbledon is getting it's Olympic look pretty quickly, looks good, not too garish as I had feared http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/tennis/18766965

And here is a quick overview of some of the changes that will be made: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/18689673

Watch out for the full stop! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/18689673

I've got tickets for Centre Court so can't wait to see it close up . . . canee wait! Cool

Thanks; have amended now. I also wondered what she meant by that. Will definitely be interesting to see all the changes.

I know someone who's an Overground driver - will have to get him to do some well-timed parps of his horn and we'll find out Smile

Much more detailed information about the Beeb's coverage of the first three days of the Olympics proper:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/proginfo/search/?medium=tv&yearweek=&channel=&day=

Also, a full list of Freeview coverage on 301 and 302 has appeared at http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tv_and_radio/5345480.stm

It's a trivial point and I know its been raised before, but that 11.30am presenter change on BBC One really does seem pointless. For the first week, the 9am-11.30am shift focuses on rowing and swimming, then the 11.30am-2.00pm programme is just more rowing and swimming. Surely a 9am-1pm shift would be more sensible, and then start a new shift for the 1pm BBC Two programme, rather than unnecessarily disrupting the flow of the programme at 11.30am.

Looking at the Programme Information really brings home the unprecedented level of coverage that BBC One will show - and that's without even thinking about BBC Three, and the 24 other streams.

Mishal Husain really does stand out as the non-sports face amongst the presenters too, and although in her slot the focus will be on bigger names at the swimming, rowing and athletics heats she is being billed as leading the slot even though she's never presented a sports broadcast on BBC TV (in the UK at least) in her career. Could be worse though - you could be watchied Rishi Persad on BBC3!

Also I hope they let BBC HD stick with the BBC3 coverage all day and don't interupt it for BBC2 coverage at 1pm, 6pm and 10pm - it would be very annoying if you're watching something on "BBC HD" then have to switch to BBC3 (or a red button stream if on Sky) for 45 minutes so BBC2 airs in HD.

And Freeview 302 looks pathetic really - 4 hours of live coverage a day. Rather than extending BBC3 I do wish they'd let BBC2 air coverage through to 7pm so the BBC Parliament stream could air stuff all day, giving Freeview viewers a consistent four streams rather than just the three during the day.

P.S. BBC1 is airing coverage all day on Friday 27th July from 9am through to 6pm with a break for the news, counting down to the Opening Ceremony and covering the final day of the torch relay.

Interesting. I thought they might do that, although I'm not sure what they'll fill the day with - as far as I know, the torch is just going on a boat down the Thames that day and there won't be too much activity around the park for much of the day, I'm lucky enough to have a ticket and the gates open at 17:00 (we're told we have to be in our seats by 19:30). I wonder if they'll show the pre-show that starts at 20:12, the Ceremony proper that'll be seen around the world starts at 21:00.

The day before, the 26th, there'll be one-hour Olympic Countdown programmes at 15:00 and 17:00, should be an interesting day as the torch goes around Central London and much of the build-up to the GB men's football game that night will be showing it's arrival in Hyde Park.

Roger Mosey has tweeted that the schedule on Digiguide for that day is in fact incorrect: @rogermosey: I think the first schedule has an error or two in it! There are just two News Specials on the day.

I'm sure she'll be better than Ortis Deeley was on the Channel 4 athletics coverage last year!
