Still not to sure about those uncanny folk but on the whole absolutely gorgeous.

P.S. No huge surprise but confirmation there won't be a highlights programme as such with the late evening programme instead being a mixture of continuing live action and the biggest moments of the day.

Good enough decision about the 10.40pm programme - I'm actually looking forward to Gabby Logan's slot. Hopefully it will combine live action with highlights and the big name guests, but I'm also hoping for a slightly edgier, livelier look at the Games as well as the surrounding events and issues.

One suggestion would have been to air a stand-alone late-evening highlights programme on one of the interactive streams.

One other omission from the schedules this year (or at least it seems so, anyway), are the 'Olympic Report' round-up programmes which have been dotted throughout the day for the last few Olympics. I'm sure its merely a scheduling issue, but it would have been nice, for example, to have a round-up of the days events at 5pm-6pm on BBC One and allow the live coverage to run on BBC Two between 5pm and 7pm.

Returning to the Elbow theme for a second - having heard the full version, and also the 1-minute titles version and the Torch Relay trailer theme, it seems that we're getting different versions of the theme which have been properly recorded, rather than the dodgy editing of the main track we saw for Beijing and Athens. Hopefully we'll get some nice versions of the theme for the coming-up and closing sequences.

Very excited now! I've got tickets for loads of Olympic events - but I almost wish I was sitting at home watching the box!

Half expected the train to be in Green 'Black Horse' livery actually.........

Stunning Visuals in the full length version. Although when I posted the YT short version on a predominantly US board, it attacted the comment 'that's weird'.

I think when it is an .mp4 file, it buffers the whole thing before playing (it is about 30mb). So, if you wait long enough then it may well play.

Always been fine for me but there's a new version waiting in the wings that might fix it for those having trouble.

Anyway, epic trail - the visuals, music, voiceover all just lovely. Fingers crossed they've bothered to do an ident.

The promo is a bit too cartoonish IMO, I guess mostely cause of the animated people.

Not following this topic 100% so sorry if this is widely known, will BBC have a special set built for their coverage? Are there any photos of it already?

Well they have a studios on a tower block, so one would assume a set probably consisting of chairs a desk will be erected in one of those studios.

The main BBC Sport studio will be the same box used in the World Cup in South Africa but with a different set inside, on top of some shipping containers near the Olympic Stadium. The tower block position is being used by BBC News.

Strange. Videos using the player above have never, ever worked for me. Can't be the only one, surely.

Do you have the same problem with .FLV files?

Anyway, you can download the file and play it locally.. http://www.theidentgallery.com/misc/misc/otfull.mp4

or go to BBC One on iplayer and rewind it to 19:27 for the next hour or so.

thanks for this.

How did you figure out the full file path there? I'd like to download other trailers from that site.

I have to say those shipping containers look terrible when I last saw a photo. I hope they are going to cover them with some sort of wrap. I assume they are visible from the olympic site?

I agree they look terrible but I guess they won't be shown on screen.

Re BBC News use of the tower block - will this be for the news channel, bulletins or what?

I suspect that isn't hapenning so as to ensure that either BBC1 or BBC2 is Olympic free at all times. I don't see what harm there would be in an 'overlap' for just one hour, but I'm sure some would complain
