Interesting to see Mishal Husain involved. I presume there will be some news included at Breakfast, so it makes sense to have Bill/Sian involved, but surely not 9-11.30am. She's clearly highly rated by BBC bosses
Also the 1.45pm/10.35pm timings for presenter changes seem to suggest at least the BBC news at 1/10 will be scheduled as normal at least most of the time

Very interesting, and rather surprising, presentation line-up.
Its obviously worth noting that, during the athletics and swimming events, John Inverdale and Clare Balding will really be the key presenters in the evenings. Gary Lineker is seemingly taking on the role of doing links and news updates from the main studio (the role filled by Jake Humphrey in 2008, and Steve Rider in previous years).
Mishal Husain's role in the mornings will presumably be similar to Lineker in the evenings.
And it seems that Jill Douglas has again been sidelined as main cycling anchor - a spot that Jake Humphrey seems to be filling.
Presumably Gabby Logan's late-night programme will also act as the 'highlights' show as well as covering the late-night action and other Olympic-related events.
Personally, I would put Gary Lineker in the afternoons and Sue Barker in the evenings, and I still feel Hazel Irvine should be the main athletics presenter. But, alas . . .
However, I'm glad to see the BBC have generally stuck with sports presenters rather than bringing in other more mainstream 'talent'.

No reason at all why anyone from BBC News or Gary Lineker should be involved - a real shame to see the BBC not reward it's best presenters with it's best slots. If they really want to give Gary Lineker a slot it shouldn't have been in primetime. And Mishal Husain - this is the BBC for gods sake and the biggest sporting event in their history. They don't need to go raiding the newsroom to find people to front it!
Also relatively short shifts - they'll let Sue Barker to 12noon-8pm for Wimbledon, but keep presenters to 3 hours or so for the Olympics. They really could cut at least one shift from this pattern and have people on air for 4-5 hours. I'd probably say let BBC News deal with Breakfast (perhaps with Gabby Logan) then have Sue and Jake and Hazel/Claire and Gary as morning/afternoon duos (9-1.45pm, 1.45pm-7pm), then John and Claire/Hazel in the evening (Claire when swimming, Hazel when not).
I still think too considering they will switch to BBC2 for 1-1.45pm and 6-7pm at least they'd have been better off letting BBC2 have the daytime live coverage and keeping BBC3 to a 7pm start. That way Freeview folk get a consistent 4 streams and aren't cut to just three during the day - compared to 4 or 5 at all times during 2008.

Worth also noting that Jake Humphrey will be fronting the prime time BBC Three coverage, with Manish Bhasin, Rishi Persad and Sonali Shah in daytime.

It seems odd that they are planning this so far in advance... Its 8 months away.
Just because the BBC is planning that Sian Williams will present their Olympic coverage doesnt mean she will. All of these people could resign before then (I know that's very unlikely)... I'm guessing this will most definitely change when we get nearer to the time.

Planning in advance is what happens in business. We moved an office up the road - the planning for that started a good nine months before the move. In the grand scale that was a relatively simple task. Planning coverage of the Olympics is much more complex. Remember that the BBC will be needing to plan not only who is going to present the coverage but also planning who will back fill for these people where necessary. The same applies to those working behind the scenes.
