BBC 2 Rebrand confirmed

Well it's 27 active '2' idents down to initally 4 I'm afraid. So that covers 7am, 10.50am, 11.05am and 11.20am then!

Thanks 4 tellin me Asa, I was unaware of that, well they will probably introduce more new ones eventually but it's pretty crap going from 27 idents to 4 and think of all the ones withdrawn over the years and the special themed ones!

To all you BBC TWO ident experts - some of the ones on this page: http://www.meldrum.co.uk/mhp/identzone/bbc2/bbc2_98current.html which are noted as 'current' are not current - when were some of them withdrawn?

Steam, Copper Cut-Out, Silk, Diary and Firecracker were all withdrawn on the 1st January 2000, as we were saying it would be good if Meldrum was updated, it is misleading ppl!

im interested in where the region names will go on the ident (if the decide to use the right hand side method)

According to the other thread, the BBC TWO logotype won't be in a box like in that image. I hope that's right, and that it stays bottom centre as at present, so that all the other channels still fit in, and because it looks so much better.

And I wonder if they'll bother making English regional versions, with the opt-outs due to move over to BBC ONE soon.

I doubt they'll try to foist DOGs onto us this time - they've tried that once already, and I don't think they'll risk it again.

Has anyone seen the BBC2 london ident yet

No - since both of the weekly BBC London regional programmes are shown right across England on digital BBC2, there is no BBC2 London ident in use, and they probably haven't even made one since English regional opt-outs are due to all move to BBC1 anyway.

I saw LDN-style Metropol for the first time this week (Sunday 11th Nov).

I like the [ B ][ B ][ C ] L D N at the bottom of the screen,
as opposed to either
                                  [ B ][ B ][ C ] NEWS

or                                      [ B ][ B ][ C ]
                                          L     D     N

The 'water-ripples' on the red background seem a bit odd without writing at the middle of them (i.e. bbc.co.uk/london and 94.9FM and TV News ).

Also like the fact they're using the Millbank/Westminster studios.

A good idea for Sunday's closedown.

After the final ident, they should show the 'Door Close' animation, you know where the '2' fades to black!
