There was also an interview with Mr Lambie-Nairn, and a link to meldrum.co.uk (which I though closed down)
It hasn't closed, its just Darren's abandoned it over the last 18 months which is a real shame. it wss a very good site, but Mr Meldurm apepars to have stuffed the idea of further updates.

Yeah I wish MHP would be updated! It has an excellent reputation, its a shame not to continue building on that!

Brilliant Images, Crap updating (at one time it said Oct 1998 besides each channel he had in the section)
Does anyone here have contact with Darren Meldrum (or is he a member of this forum?). If so please tell him he has a brilliant site thats 18 months out of date and has to do something about it. It was the first ever ident site I saw (At that time it was only about 2 months ater the last update so I didnt take any notice). Please dont let it sot stagnant or it will be less accurate than a set of encyclopaedias I've got from the 1950s- worth a lot of but the information is next to useless in the 21st century..
Probably the last 'new' versions of the 'old' idents made:
In the last two weeks, we've seen a proper widescreen version of Blade, with the caption 'BBC TWO Yorkshire & Lincolnshire'
During October, the ident was still a 4:3 one with black bars on top, and the caption said 'BBC TWO North'
There is no proper widescreen blade. Blade was made and introduced in 1991. It was made in 4:3. The current 'widescreen' version is just the 4:3 version cropped. In 1998 when 'widescreen' BBC2 idents wee first seen most of them were just croppings of the pre-october 1997 versions. The 4:3 versions were as little as only half the actual ident!
I must say TV Ark was the first TV site I saw,I saw MHP in 2000 and was strayed to beilve Firecracker,Steam,Copper Cut Out etc was still going! It was only TV Home (Or was it TV Room?) Which told me otherwise!

Thanks Whataday, like I said, I'm almost certain the BBC Two logo on the square is added by the magazine onto a 'clean' copy of the ident from Lambie-Nairn, rather than being part of the official ident. I would suspect that the BBC will add the text themselves and if it IS goingto move to the RH side, then they will probably edit the other channels too.

I found Darren Meldrum's site a few months ago, I saw then it hadn't been updated for ages and this was the first website to make me a fanatic of the BBC TWO logos, before I never took to much notice but from then on I did, obviously I remembered the idents from when I was a kid. I've been saying for weeks how I don't want the current 2's to go but there's nothing else I can say that will keep them on TV, like any old ident they will be in the history books and on ppl's websites able to view in videofile and i've got the whole current batch on video and some older ones from 1991-1993. At least the new ones are still 2's, we'll have to find out how many there are, still a new job!
