A very confused Peter Sissons had to ad-lib his way through the wrong report being played! It was faded out and back to him, who tried to get into the correct one!
Yes, and did anyone notice that the wrong report went on for what seemed like a long time. From having been in the gallery this maybe because no-one really watches the reports although it would be become obvious something was wrong and the presenter often watches them.
But, the built-in instructions (ie. countdown to end, aston locations) were obviously put on write as we got the 'Jon Sopel' aston up at the right point.
If you think that's bad, you should have seen the ITN News Channel at 1am on Monday morning. They were showing some kind of 'week in review' type thing, which was obviously taped and, by the looks of it, thrown together in about 5mins. Not only did some of the reports bear no relation to the preceding link, and often were played twice but, on lots of the reports that went with the right story, the presenter got the reporter's name completely wrong. Eg, the presenter said 'Fred Bloggs from ITN's 5 News reports', and then a report from ITV News followed.
And, in order to pad the show out to fill the whole hour, they showed lots of channel 4 news reports followed by Jon Snow doing a 5 minute interview. Classy.
No, Geeta's just filling in today for Jane. She has presented News 24 in the past. Most recently with Gavin Esler and overnight.

As i saw on 'It shouldn't happen to a newsreader' Jon Snow said he is one of those people who doesn't follow the script. I think the same is true of Peter Sissons - i noticed him frantically trying to find the page with the script for the next report, as it was taking a while for the autoscript to get to the next item - do you think the autocue operator goes for a coffee between shots??/

When I was there for the Ten the autocue operator sat there in her coat and went as soon as the bulletin had finished! But, no, they can change the autocue really quickly really and move things about. The script order changes through the programme as the programme editor switches the line-up during the broadcast quite often. I think Peter Sissons was trying to go back to the item he thought he had finished to adlib through until they had got the right report.

If she goes off for a coffee she must be ultra-caffeinated by the end of the bulletin! - especially a half hour one!!
