BBC 1 South have today opted out of BBC 1 Network's showing of 'Escape to the Country' to show a programme about Portsmouth Football Club's recent problems. It was only a 30 min prog, so to fill the 1 hour slot, they're also showing a local prog about the Bluebell Railway.

Interestingly the Freeview and D-Sat EPG data, all state just the Portmouth prog as filling the hour slot, but the extended information does acknowledge the second programme too. This implies that the Beeb can't edit the start and finish times, or insert extra EPG events on English regional data ?

Also, they used Roger Johnson as the CA going into and out of the Portsmouth prog, then played a trailer, the CA for the railway prog, was Chris Carnegy (current Radio Solent manager, and has presented on, and run many ILR stations in the south over the last 20 years).

Anyway, that's enough trivia for today..

This is also what usually happens on late evening slots for the Super League Show, EPG shows SLS for the duration of a slot, usually a film, but the prog info does indeed list 'Followed by..' info for filler shows (Inside Out repeats etc.)

BBC ONE NW opted out of network recently, on Easter Monday afternoon to show a documentary about a school orchestra in Liverpool. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00s0cw7

Sounds like the normal practice which is to just grab the nearest person with a decent voice when editing the programme!

Yes, it was odd they used different voices for the two junctions though. Chris Carnegy sounds much more the part than Roger Johnson (BBC South sports editor, seen on News 24 from time to time). I suspect, as you probably imply, the junctions were recorded as part of each programme,

Not really, the ident before and the voice over at the end (and possibly the trails) would be part of the programme itself, so it's one complete item keeping it easy to play out on the night. It would just depend on when the 2 were edited and who was around to be a voice at those times.
