Possibly a still of an ident?

Or a mix of the idents as during the short spell in 1997 with the balloons. They could possibly copy what some ITV stations used to do and show clips of the Queen visiting crowds around the country.

But the chances of this are very slim! (awaits to be proven wrong)

I THINK the plan is to use footage of a flapping flag, like they use after Her Maj's gig at three o'clock on Christmas Day.

Anyone in the know care to confirm?

By that you mean that they *are* planning a formal closedown rather than symbol fades to black then up comes TCW as last year?

No No, Steve. No plans like that for tonight's closedown. We were just talking hyperthetically should at anytime in the future the Beeb had to play the National Anthem, then what would accompany it on vision.

Where did you hear that? Is it not going to be like last year then?

As the SABRE has apparently been de-comissioned, there's no chance of an analogue RBS into Fremont Point. It would be intersting to see what is broadcast in the Channel Islands during the test. Specualting that no specific provision is made for RBS, then you'd expect to see cropped 16:9 into a 14:9/12:9 Letterbox of whatever the DSAT is showing at the time, Widescreen Test Card ?

Wasn't SABRE an IBA system not a BBC one?

On the channel islands they will see whatever is broadcast on BBC1 and 2 digital

Or will Plymouth opt the CI out and insert a TC-F?

Or.... will a TCF simply be up-linked for TV Centre?

Or... pergaops the States will be allowed to do their own emmergency tests?

No, no and no. These are analogue terrestrial Rebroadcast System tests, the Channel Islands AFAIK don't rebroadcast anything except a satelite.

Even in the old days there was no need to include it in the test as it rebroadcast another transmitter permanately, and not as a backup

A proper BBC1 shutdown would have to involve a regional opt-out, some of the best Brian Baines moments were at shutdown!

Goodness me, why can't you lot read the <expletive deleted> posts?

When I talk of the flapping flag, I'm NOT talking about tonight, I'm talking about any (hypothetical) instance on the Beeb where it becomes necessary to play the National Anthem.
