Radio Times listings also confirm this closedown.

BBC ONE 3.30am - 4.30am close
THEREFORE, BBC TWO might be either the same time OR 2.30am - 3.30am.

BBC TWO seems to be making more use of BBC NEWS 24 in its late night schedules this year, which pushes ceefax pages back into the early hours. I can remember BBC TWO closing down around 1.00am this time last year and ceefax pages running from around 1.00am to 7.00am.

How much Ceefax depends on when BBC1 finishes - which is when the handover takes place. I'm not sure why they've felt it necessary to do this; last night for example, BBC2 showed 40 minutes of News 24 then BBC1 finished. The result - lots of N24 items being cut off suddenly like the programme about the Iraqi who fled to London when Saddam came to power. Please BBC2, leave News 24 to BBC1. But if you must show it, exit at one of the natural breaks ie. on the hour or half-hour.

While there may be less downtime on 2 this Christmas, at least BBC2 startup has been put back to 7am (if only this would continue when the Learning Zone resumes!)

While it doesn't particularly bother me, I'd have thought that BBC would probably like to provide a service to the younger viewers at 6am rather than show an hour of Ceefax - it's effectively a simulcast with CBeebies anyway and costs next to nothing other than taping a few links. A more desirable plan would be to remove News 24 from the late-night service.

On that topic - what will happen to BBC1 once the country is completely digital? A test card? Slide and Music? Ceefax (probably will have been scrapped though)? Or maybe some idiot will decide to continue showing News 24 overnight...

Of course, BBC1 may be 24 hours by then, the sign-zone already takes up most of the night on some nights, even pushing into The World Today on occasions.

I don't remember any 1am closedowns - last year BBC2 was staying until well after 2am every night.

There were some 12:30am finishes in 2002, especially before Christmas.

Digiguide is saying that BBC TWO Analogue will close for engineering tests from 2.00am - 3.00am as well as BBC ONE Analogue closing for engineering tests from 3.30am - 4.30am.

Not sure about Digital versions of BBC ONE & TWO showing Testcard W though!

As the SABRE has apparently been de-comissioned, there's no chance of an analogue RBS into Fremont Point. It would be intersting to see what is broadcast in the Channel Islands during the test. Specualting that no specific provision is made for RBS, then you'd expect to see cropped 16:9 into a 14:9/12:9 Letterbox of whatever the DSAT is showing at the time, Widescreen Test Card ?

Or will Plymouth opt the CI out and insert a TC-F?

Or.... will a TCF simply be up-linked for TV Centre?

Or... pergaops the States will be allowed to do their own emmergency tests?

Radio Times has Digital listed as News 24 all night. I suppose it wouldn't make much difference to BBC2, they're showing Ceefax anyway, it wouldn't be such a huge loss to show on Digital too, but I can't really see the point of this anyway...

BBC-2 has been closing down each night for the past three weeks. definitely no National Anthem there. Not that there ever was on BBC-2.
BBC-1 last year just came out of News 24 for the Tests with a caption.

Now that would be an interesting accompaniment to the dancers!

That's a good point actually. If the Beeb had to go to the National Anthem at any closedown time now what would they show on vision.
In the past the clock would fade to the globe.
