The Battle Of The Music Channels

Today we have The Hits broadcasting "Bonnie Tyler's 100 Greatest Power Ballads" and TMF have a segment called...er..."The 50 Greatest Power Ballads."

Now, yesterday admittedly we had a choice. On The Hits we had songs from the shows/films, and on TMF we had the Top 100 80s Songs. But this still led to crossover, especially as the trend for 80s movies was to have a memorable song attached to it (Top Gun, Beaches, Mannequin etc)

Now, whilst I am the biggest 80s music fan on planet Earth, and appreciate seeing Elaine Paige in a cat suit (literally) belting out Memory twice over, surely this ostracises the squillions of kids who have been given a Freeview box for their bedroom and expect Take That or the Scissor Sisters?

They've been doing this for months, you're right it doesn't make any sense. With any luck C4 will give The Hits a complete overhaul to make it more like E4 Music.

I don't think The Hits even bother with the straightforward Classic Hits weekends anymore - unless of course half the screen is taken up by 'Love Calculator' or 'Beat the Monkey'.

i like the hits best at least it knows what the word MUSIC is unlike TMF who rubbish all day.

beat the monkey has it's own regular slot now.
games that usually appear on the hits are normally shown during daytime.
they had classic hits on a few weeks ago but only on the saturday.
the screen is not taken up by 'beat the monkey or love calculator. when they had it on the saturday a few weeks ago it was just what hits you could select.

My main problem with The Hits is how painfully inaccurate the EPG is - for example Saturday was something like "Fantastic Females" yet the power ballads thing was on air. And that wasn't a one-off, it's like that every weekend (don't see much during the day). Any major channel would be call that a serious error...

the hits do care about classic hits. it's on mostly next sunday.

I wasn't really impressed with yesterdays music coverage. I hope that C4 do something with this new freeview channel. I've stopped listening to music on Freeview since 3C went off the air.

does anybody know why the hits edit videos about?
i like the way they have edited gym class heroes cupids chokehold
they edit the bit where the music dies down!
