If you're on about him being gay, then Paul O'Grady and Co. seem to get on fine.
If not, then you're wrong - most people know he is innocent.
oh the irony!
i seem to remember the huge (completely unprovoked) fuss you went to, to point out you weren't gay on the forum prior to the broadcast of gillian dissecting your poo.
I think the Friday Night Project went ok. I thought the most cringeable moment was when Barrymore was asked to do impressions of Justin and Alan. I did laugh at his Alan Carr but the JLC was awful!
Well, I think the show was a step back on the ladder for him. I'd like to see him on TV again, so long as he goes back to taking control and becoming the 'Master of Ceremonies' again instead of the public overruling him. Unfortunately, I don't think he can ever be an all-round 'entertainer' anymore on primetime TV (due to being scarred by his problems and the media) but I can see him as a general quiz/game show host.

I thought he did well last night, even the Hitler/Fawlty bit seemed to work with the other comedians there. Barrymore's "all-round" entertainer stuff wouldn't fit with today's TV - it was a bit out-of-place and dated in the 90's and without the stuff in his private life, it wouldn't have been long before he went the same way as Cilla and Brucie to be replaced by shows that better met the audience profile ITV1 is trying to reach.
He needs to "re-invent" himself and find the right controlled show. Someone else mentioned the Gen Game, that could work - should be better than Norton's post-modern effort. Sticking with the late-night trendy type stuff for a while isn't a bad way to go, it'd take pressure off a big come-back being a flop, he's made a good start in rebuilding his profile I think.
I watched 'Mickey B' on The Friday Night Project and enjoyed every minute of it (apart from Preston's appearance! - what has happened to this lad - the moment he came fourth he has been a miserable sod)
On the FNP the guest 'host' doesnt necessarily take 100% control of the reigns and this was showed up to great effect last night - where you felt Michael wanted to be the show-man and take control but had to take a back-seat for many items.
His Alan Carr impression had me on the floor in laughter and his JLC was ok aswell. I think he done very well and even though he mumbled through a few parts I feel he is on his way to recovery and a full series somewhere.
Michael seems to have two choices here:-
GO back to a daytime/family type audience and take the programme as near as the knuckle as he can (a la POG) or move to a late-night slot and produce an adult programme (possibly like Graham Norton)
I would firstly like to see him step into the shoes of Des O Connor and present Today with Michael and Mel for a week as the same grannies are probably in the studio from his shows many years previous!
He is a cert to be a guest on the next series of Parkinson aswell - where he will probably announce his latest project!
Not sure what happened then but that's not the message I posted, very strange!
What I said was:
I have never watched Big Brother before and never will again, the same goes for the Friday Night Project. However I had to watch both programmes just to see Barrymore bounce back and, despite what you think of him, he's done just that.

Hi tvmercia...
Just feel I have to clarify the fact that when I was on You Are What You Eat, the only reason I said I wasn't gay on the forum was because they broadcast a clip which made me look like I had said something like
"...and hopefully find a girlfriend, ...or a boyfriend"
In fact the "...Or a boyfriend" remark was about my mother, who was on the show with me and was sitting next to me at the time of the remark.
I wouldn't say I went into a 'huge (completely inprovoked) fuss' about it at all - I was just pointing out that I wasn't that way inclined!
And your post also has no relevance to the thread at all - we were discussing male family presenters who were gay but successful.
Regardless of what has or hasn't gone on in Mr Barrymore's personal life over the years - swimming pool incident and all - I was glad to see the back of him when he disappeared from telly a few years back.
An ability to behave hyperactively is NOT entertainment. He was hideously over-rated, and has little note-worthy talent IMHO. I liked Strike It Lucky/Rich, but it was the FORMAT that I liked, rather than him. If it comes back, it should either be with a different host, or Mr Barrymore should be given tranquilisers before the cameras roll.
Actually, a lot of his formats were good. My Kind Of People and the "Barrymore" show were brilliant showcases for the talents and quirks of the random general public, but Mr Barrymore always seemed like a big nothing to me.
Actually, something like Richard Hammond's 5 o'Clock Show is sort-of the new "My Kind Of People", in as much as it showcases quirky people and stuff. But without bloody Barrymore hosting, thankfully. Who needs Barrymore?
