Weren't there 2 versions of the theme tune? One in mono and one in stereo, the latter having more life in it.

This video seems to give the full details of the various title sequences over the years:

I can't help noticing how much the instrumental version sounds the Going Live theme, or maybe an underscore bed version of it. Strange, as Chucklevision was first shown as part of "Saturday Starts Here", that weird bit of CBBC continuity that wasn't done by Presentation, but by the Going Live team from around TV Centre.

Going Live, Saturday Starts Here and Double Dare all had presumably intentionally similar sounding themes by Peter Gosling. Looking at that vid the Chucklevision theme was by Dave Cooke, so presumably that sort of sound was in vogue at the time!
(Massively off topic but for series 5 of Going Live, both the GL and Double Dare themes were rearranged. The new GL arrangement was so terrible it was changed back to the 1987 original from week 2 onwards, but the DD one was presumably already committed to all the pre-records so it remained until the show ended at the end of that run).

The final series of ChuckleVision is up on the iPlayer:

Shame it's from when the show was well past its best, I'd have liked some from the early-mid 90s, but it's a fitting tribute anyway.

I remember this final series being very low key and burned off quickly at the time, they clearly weren't too keen on the show by this point. CBBC seemed to mostly be showing badly edited down to 15 minute versions of episodes from the late 90s/early 00s by the last few years they were showing it.

Much of the earlier series is all over YouTube anyway.

Sure I saw at least one report at the weekend using a clip from this 1994 episode and IIRC it wasn't in potato quality either:

Funnily enough that's another of the episodes that stuck in my mind from when I first saw it, especially the scene with the pilot flying to Paul telling Barry how to do up his tie. Another one that stuck in my mind is one where they set up a market stall, but nobody else was there and they find they came on the wrong day. That episode is from way back in 1991! Whether my memory is from the original airing (when I'd have been 5), or from a later repeat, I'm not sure.

As those videos on YouTube show, CBBC use to repeat the 90s episodes quite frequently into the mid-00s, I remember them going as far back as series 4, but I don't remember them ever showing series 3 for some reason (I think they were shown during the CBBC Choice days though, along with other early 90s stuff like Bitsa and Radio Roo). They repeated the later series of Bodger and Badger around the same time- another 90s kids show whose star is also no longer with us Sad

I loved Double Dare and the music, but as you say the last series changed the music which was not good as it totally ruined the feeling of the show and the set got much darker if a remember correctly. I have never been able to find a clean version of the Double Dare theme music or Physical Challenge/Obstacle Course music. The only music I can find is the Nickelodeon USA version. Does anyone on here have the music or the Peter Gosling still about?

Is Double Dare the one that became Run the Risk?

I'm not sure that Double Dare became Run The Risk. It did replace it on Going Live's final series though.

Run The Risk was effectively Double Dare in new packaging. DD finished in 1992 and Risk started six months or so later. I'm not entirely sure why it happened the way it did, though Risk was probably more original then Dare, which itself was an imported format from America. I dare say most people remember moments from both shows interchangeably.

Of course Dare and Risk were famous in hindsight for Peter Simon's inability to stand up, a talent that was later utilised on Bid-up/Bid TV where on many other occasions Mr Simon constantly fell over. Was just like Risk never went away Wink

I saw Peter doing Run The Risk live in Butlins in 1997, that was enjoyable. He turned the christmas lights on and appeared in panto more than once here too.

I hate to continue going of topic... perhaps it needs separated?

I seem to recall reading at the time that Double Dare was replaced was because Nickelodeon, owners of the original format, were in the process of setting up their UK station (which launched a year later) and were toying with the idea of doing it themselves so didn't allow the BBC to make any more.

Then they decided to make their own version of Get the Picture.

Thats shocking, why do TV people need to change the music?
