The couples so far are the problem. 5 shows in and I've been willing for the blocks to drop for all of them. Some of the general knowledge from the contestants has been woeful at best.

If this gets recommissioned past the current 10 ep series then serious questions need to be asked of the BBC.

Thats a very judgemental opinion you've made of me?

Back to the contestants... Name African countries beginning with a vowel ...South Africa!!! Seriously...Pilots (highly qualified and educated) who don't know countries or what a vowel is!!

Instead of the bars, why don't they use UTV idents instead? Wink

I'd better not tell you about the pair who had the question " capital cities north of London" and who suggested Manchester, then.
(Though, in fairness, neither of them were pilots...)

I started watching half way through last night's as I was curious to see what it ws like. I'm not sure if the quality of questions and the stupidity of the contestants is a good or bad thing, but I struggled to understand what was going on. They were discussing where to place their blocks and it was just gobbledegook.

For such a simple concept of balancing objects in a thing it's made far too complex. It's basically the old cabbage game from Crackerjack - get a question right you have to hold a prize, get it wrong and you hold something worthless

I did watch another 20 minutes last night while waiting for the TOTP Story of 1986 programme to start.
After watching the first show, I'd said I wouldn't watch another as the whole concept seemed to be hopeless.
I saw the pilots - and was also amazed that they couldn't even name countries that they fly to, but I suppose it is the pressure of the clock.
What I was really surprised at was a line from the host "If I heard you were flying the plane I'd get the f**k off".

Why on earth was that needed, and left in through the edit?
I'm really no prude, I don't sit there rattling my pearls at naughty words on the telly, especially near 10pm, but it stood out as something that just really didn't add anything to a gameshow / quiz.

Last night's ratings must have been particularly bad as Piers Morgan is gloating on Twitter that Life Stories won the 9pm slot last night.

Although didn't Bank Balance itself win the slot last week with just 1.9m, so somewhat of a hollow victory.

Well in typical Piers fashion he's twisting it somewhat. His rating was boosted by people leaving Martin Lewis on and then switching off at the start. Bank Balance ended up being the most watched show from 9:30 to 10pm as people got bored of Piers but they were both hovering around the 1.5m mark. So no one was a winner last night really, especially with main numbers like that on the main channels.
